FNP-45

FN Pistols don't receive much notoriety (except, perhaps, for the Five-seveN)... but I think this one is going to make a name for itself. The FN FNP-45, as written about here: http://www.gunsandammomag.com/ga_handguns/ga_fn45_200801/

I'm sure that I'll eventually be in the market for a .45acp pistol again, and when I do, this one looks like it'll be excellent competition for the likes of the XD-45, Glock 21SF, M&P 45, etc...

The external hammer and DA/SA trigger action will appeal to some... and I wouldn't be surprised if they followed suit, as with their other FNP lineup, and produce a SAO version with a safety to be carried cocked-and-locked.

As a side note... FN has just released a .357sig version of the FNP, as well. Veeeeery interesting... I'll be giving these guys a harder look in the future.

Here's some of the numbers, in comparison with the other FNPs:

We had one in the shop up til today . . . not a bad feeling gun, but HUGE compared to a lot of other comparable pistols.

I like the entire FN line, basically; I just find it kinda funny that the FNP-45 comes in what is basically a small suitcase!

Is the grip very thick, or is is simply long? I know that this pistol has to be a bit bulky, at least, to fit 14rd in the magazine... but I'm hoping that it's still similar in size to the XD-45 and Glock 21SF.
