Looking like April 28th, or 29th. That is the earliest that I will be able to attend. Would be nice to find some land close to here to go shooting at. Rifles would be fun.

I have all kinds of land, but it's about 60 miles away!

I don't know about Memphis, but it will be mixed rain and snow here on March 24 & 25.

That's when the Bristol NASCAR race is. Last one I attended was in the 70s. Far too many people there these days. As the crow flies I'm about four miles from the tract, with a couple of ridges in between. That's as close as I want to get.

If we can get enough people together to fill up the cost of the lanes on the small side for an hour I can probably talk my boss into letting us have it from like 1-2 on a Sunday. If everyone doesn't show they'd have to open the small side as well, but we'd still be able to shoot together. Let me know how that sounds.

Sounds good to me! And if anyone wants to come out to my Dad's property and shoot, your more than welcome! Plenty of room for rifles, handguns, AR's, whatever! Just let me know ahead of time!:D

Hey Glocking would your Dad be opposed to us setting up some type of combat course? Provided there are good backstops we could set up some scenario shoots. That'd be fun as all get out.

Im sure it wouldnt be a problem at all. We have a field that is huge, that would be great for that. :D

Might have to get something planned then.

We should do that. And find someone who has a trap thrower and shoot some skeets too!

I had an idea earlier I wanted to run by everyone. Some Saturday or Sunday in April let's get together at GlockingTn's dad's House (provided that's ok with you and him) and do some shooting and discussing about the TGO group thing. I've pm'ed Tungsten and asked him permission to use the name and what his thoughts are on all of it and I'm waiting to hear back from him. If he says it's a go what do you guys say about getting something going? Start it as a gun club with political aspirations and then eventually get into things a bit. i know there are groups already out there, but one more pro-gun group can't hurt anything.

I say we keep it simple, but let's get together have some fun and see where we all stand on some basic issues and go from there. Whadda ya say?

Before you do too much construction on a range, you might check county codes. I talked to a friend, who is now a judge, about this when another friend wanted to build a range for occasional use but was blocked from doing so by county zoning codes. In Sullivan County, you can shoot on your property (as in all counties outside of an incorporated town), but when you start building stuff for a range you have to be on property zoned "commercial."

Just something to check on before doing much work.

Well, you dont wanna know what my Dad would say to those people who say it has to be "zoned" commercial. Because it would not be pleasant!

But on the other hand, its for sure worth checking on!

This zoning thing is up to the local counties. If the range had been started a month before, it would have been grandfathered.
