California has been a petri dish for a lot of policies that are now national policy. Almost every law regarding guns, the enviroment as well as public assitance has started in California and their "forward" thinking. California is a microcosm of where our nation is heading.

California's economic demise is going to happen nationwide unless we do something. We, as a nation, are doing exactly what Califonia was doing. That is provide programs for anyone who can fill out the paperwork and have the working class pay for it. California has reached the point where their working lass can no longer afford the upkeep of those who don't work.

As a nation we are in the same boat as California and it is just a matter of time before we meet the same fate, that is unless we change in a major way. At some point the nation is going to run out of money to spend and no one will lend us any money like they have for decades. The working class will no longer be able to support those who don't work and the programs the "have nots" have come to rely upon will cease. This is when this country will become a third world nation and you will see rioting as well as looting in the streets. It will be the "have nots" taking what they believe is rightfully theirs from those who have supported them for so long.

As much as I hate California why aren't we going to bail them out like we did all the banks. We would see more long term benefits through taxes and other economic gains by helping out California than we ever saw with the money we gave the banks. The banks were given bailouts to help the economy. They were supposed to be used for loans but all they did was move the money offshore and make investments so their shareholders could make a profit. The bailouts in no way helped the people of this nation yet we are the ones paying for the bailouts with our taxes. Even though most banks have paid back the bailouts we, as taxpayers, are not getting a break. We are still paying for the bailout with our taxes while the bailout loan repayments are going into the federal coffers for them to use. Almost seems like a bait and switch in order for the government to get more money out of the American people. Loans are harder to get now than they ever have been for most honest people.
