Good Memphis S&W Revolver 'smith?

Recommended Posts

Got an M27 that just decided to quit spinning the cylinder, even when open. Cleaned and oiled it recently and I think I must have got oil into some place that it didn't like. Now the cylinder is really tight, like the oil turned to glue.

I'll take suggestions on how to treat it myself (but I'm prepping for the eventual trip to a good Revo 'smith).

Thanks

Eapking,

Take it by Classic Arms and see if they there can do anything with it. My wife's dad had an old Colt Dick Special that had been in a drawer for over 20 years. I could bearly open the thing to make sure it was unloaded, it was so gummed up. The guy over there stripped down and cleaned it out and got it working for me. Charged about $40, if I remember.

Sad truth is there aren't many good smiths around here anymore. The guy over at G&A has a terrible attitude problem, and the guy over at Dowdle Sporting goods stays about a month behind schedule. ( You can ship it to the factory and get it back quicker than that with most stuff.)

If by chance you find someone, please share the info.

Good luck!

+1 on taking it to Classic. Mason is a very good gunsmith and can have you fixed up in no time for a very reasonable rate. He is my go to guy for any work that I am unable to do myself.

get this video: Trigger Job by Jerry Miculek - GunVideo.com and get busy and do it yourself. If after watching this video once, then on the second pass have the tools and follow Jerry's instructions the gun doesn't work then take it to someone who charges for excellence. Wish you were here in Clarksville, me and another guy I know enjoy going over S&Ws just for the fun of it.
