Under the guise of a proposed global “Small Arms Treaty†premised to fight “terrorismâ€, “insurgency†and “international crime syndicates†you can be quite certain that an even more insidious threat is being targeted – our Constitutional right for law-abiding citizens to own and bear arms.

This has popped up before. The chances of this getting ratified are slim and none in the near future.

"Have no doubt that this plan is very real, with strong Obama administration support. In January 2010 the U.S. joined 152 other countries in endorsing a U.N. Arms Treaty Resolution that will establish a 2012 conference to draft a blueprint for enactment. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has pledged to push for Senate ratification."

"Also, don’t forget that Senate confirmation of anti-gun Obama nominee Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor."

We are in different political times now.

Chances slim to none? Don't count on it…

It hasn't gone away though. Deals could be made

to allow senators to give it up if things went the

wrong way. This needs to be fought by letters to

senators until it goes away.

I'll count on it. Any senator that votes for this will be out of a job and they know it. Hillary Clinton can push all she wants but she will not get a 2/3s vote in the Senate.

Sotomayor doesn't get a vote. She's not a Senator. And the NRA will be all over this if it gets signed and moves toward ratification. But write your Senators now and often to ensure they hear you.

As I told a friend of mine, one way or another, I will never live to see this put into action. If this comes to pass, may God have mercy on the poor men who are sent to collect the guns. I can only hope that they remember the constitution they signed up to protect.

I think if or when it comes to it, our own will not come to seize. They will refuse under the premise of contradicting beliefs or outright fear. It will then be left to a UN task force to do so. Now I don't like the idea of shooting at another human being. It chills me to the depth of what's left of my conscience, BUT I don't see issues arising from "defense against a foreign invader" Not to mention those blue helmets will be easy targets in the forests of TN. They may have armor and heavier weapons, but they still don't stand a chance unless they want to carpet bomb the country.

I don't want to see this happen, but I'm hardly in fear of it. [maybe I should be, I don't know.]

If they want to try, come right on down here and try it.

You should be in fear of a treaty any time. It's the

one way you can lose sovreignty (sp) without a

complete congressional and judicial process. It

effectively can change our Constitution. Most

treaties don't get confirmed and linger. Thank

God the President can't do more than sign one.

Ratification is all you have to save you from

absolute tyranny. I'd take it seriously.

This UN treaty comes up from time to time and the above quote has been my basic response each time.

Sooner or later the people of the United States are going to realize that politicians, regardless of party affiliation, are like rounds in a magazine... each one the same as the last.

Eventually the politicians will completely sell us out for power.
