I have several friends that work for Dickson Fire/EMS. Anytime one of our colleagues is injured, especially in the line of duty, it is very hard emotionally on all responders. Please keep the officer, his family, and all of the emergency personnel involved in your prayers as they battle through this hard time.

Keith has a six month old baby. I just spoke to my friend who was a responding officer and he said there were 8 shots fired total and none were from the officer. He never stood a chance in this surprise attack. This troubles me to the depths of my soul.

I absolutely hate to hear of something like this. No doubt a younger officer based on having an 6 month old child.

What really upsets me is the killer was such a coward by taking his own life. At least stand up and take what you deserve like a man.

Well, it's hard to be positive but we do live in the country with the best medical care there is and Vandy is pretty high up on the overall list. As we saw in AZ head shots aren't always fatal so we should keep hope up and send a few prayers up as well.

I've been pretty far down before but I just can't conceive of a place I would have to be to shoot someone like that. It's hard to have any sympathy for something I just flat don't understand.

There had been a preliminary report from the church that he had died, but in fact that was proven false.

A tragic, tragic end to an unfathomable incident.

Officer Bellar died this morning from the gunshot wound to the head.

This is the second Dickson County-born officer killed in the line of duty in one month to the day. The first of course was THP Trooper Andy Wall.

It's been a hard, hard month for Dickson Co. and her LEO brethren.
