How to test and tune guns

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

Every now and again each of us needs to test a gun. Especially if you build or modify one. A while ago I made a test chamber. It works fine with long guns. Testing a pistol requires precise alignment. It is a challenging task. It takes as much time as driving to a range.

Please share your experience and pictures of equipment you use to test guns

Worlds largest suppressor!

That was my first thought :-). If it were me, I would have a laser bore sighter with a full assortment of spuds handy. i would also probably line the box with sound absorbing foam, and tweak up the front end so it was adjustable enough to hold any gun. I have thought about doing something like this more than once. it would just have to be super safe, and super quiet.

I've done it using a long row of old tires pushed up tight against each other and covered with blankets when I was trying to sort out issues with an AK. My neighbor thought i was building something. He asked me "What was you beatin' on around there?"........oh I was straightening out a fender.:)
