Welcome To Straight Talk

A little late in asking, but are these plans legit? 'Late', because my wife just canceled her Verizon account and bought one from this outfit.

Stated, the service 'piggybacks' on Verizon's coverage area, and has unlimited talk, text and web for $45 a month.

My Verizon bill has gotten ridiculous! Just two phones. I have a basic LG with talk and text only. My wife has the Samsung Fascinate with talk / text / web.

Anyone had experience, good or bad? If I too go to this, it will drop my phone bill by $150, and give me web capability.

Thoughts?

if you are happy with the phone choice probably OK, check the coverage area. Looks OK.

Some phones are not available, like my droidx and droidCharge. I bet the iphones are not available as well. I have not checked.

So I guess some people have to pay the extra if they want the fancy phones and and data, you have to go direct to the carrier is my guess for those and that is how they really get you.

But if you are happy with the phones walmart has available, then probably by all means.

full disclaimer I have not fully read the walmart deal, just the surface.

Well I've done that! Asking for experience, dude.

like I was saying, I think it comes down to the phone choices. I started to get it. But at the time the phone I wanted was not available. So phone choice was how they got me. So I end up paying extra for nothing more then the phone I carry I believe.

My dad recently switched and is saving around $50 a month IIRC. He says the service is still great but they did recently screw him over with his phone number. It's a long story but I honestly think it was his mistake that caused the problem. I don't think you would have any issues with the service.

It's TracPhone. They're a reseller. They have been pretty ok in the past. I would let the wife test drive it until you know for sure, and then make the change. They don't just piggy back verizon. There's some AT&T and T mobile in there as well.

Exact reason I left Verizon! My bill was 120\month, on a good month!

To answer your question, I had one very briefly after my Boost got dunked in the toilet. It was an AT&T service one.

The company is legit. The service is the exact same as with AT&T. You can even take the sim from one and use an unlocked iPhone (or whatever) with them.

I can not personally comment on data as the phone I had was the basic one.

If you're looking at data, then check out TMobile "prepaid". 50\month for unlimited everything, including 4g data. Supposedly, they have the largest 4g network in the nation. Very fast surfing even when not in 4g coverage.

My ex has that and from what I can tell seems to be pretty good.

You can keep your old number and $50. a month for unlimited everything.

If I wasn't an add on family member, I definately would do it.
