First Revolver- SP101

This is my first revolver, a 3" Sp101. I picked this up on the forum a few weeks ago and have added a meprolight front sight and Badger grips. I had the grips made with an extra cutout for use with a speedloader.

Beautiful Pistol! I've been wanting a SP101. And that really looks like the one. Can I babysit for a few years? Hmmm?

Thanks for the nice comments. I got to shoot this for the first time today since adding the new grips and front sight. Though the new grips are a lot smaller than the stock or hogue grips, they grip really well. I felt the gun actually stayed put much better with these on. They are wider than any of the other grips and I think that helps. Recoil was a little more noticeable, but I was shooting full power 158gr and 180gr 357 loads, and it was still very manageable.

I am really happy with the new front sight. The sight picture is considerably crisper than with the stock sight and my groups tightened up a lot. Maybe it's because I learn to shoot on semi-autos, but the dot on the front sight works much better for me.

Overall, I love this gun. My only hang up is I still don't feel comfortable carrying it, even though it actually conceals better than my USP compact. While it's a blast to shoot, I am so used to autos that it doesn't feel natural. In a tight spot, I would want to be pulling my USPc out of a holster.

Very nice! Your front sight seems to be installed a little off though. There is a gap under the sight and the barrel.

They are the boot grips. I was worried that there would not be enough grip, but there is more than enough. I've got medium sized hands, and the fit wonderfully. Most other revolver grips I've tried dont feel substantial enough. These are a little thicker, and feel great. Recoil feels a little different than with hogues, but not bad at all even with full power loads.
