Is it possible? Glock chamber a round without a magazine

I have been wondering, and I thought I'd ask here, if it's possible to chamber a round in a Glock if you do not have a magazine at that moment?

This is not a practical question but more of a "I wonder" type.

Murgatroy - are you saying it's GTG or warning about a discharge when the slide is released?

I am saying it is GTG, and that the gun will operate without a magazine in place.

But as mentioned just below, it is not good for the extractor. The extractor is designed for the round to come up from under it and slide into place, not for the extractor to move around the side of the rim to grip it.

It is not something I would let keep me up at night, but it is something to be aware of.

While you can do it with any semi, some have a "safety" that prevents shooting without a mag. Also, if you are careful, you can even slip it into the extractor properly without damage, but this is difficult to manage on smaller calibers and somewhat easier on large calibers. Just put it behind the extractor and gently lower the slide instead of slamming it home.

As others have stated, it is possible to do this in any semi-auto that does not have a magazine disconnect safety. However, due to possibly damaging the extractor, I would save this method of loading for emergency circumstances only. It is good to know that you can load it this way, when needed.

Actually you can do it on a Glock without damaging the extractor.Take the barrel out of the slide, put a round in the chamber, place the barrel back in the slide and the place the riim of the cartridge under the extractor.
