Oh man, I'm seriously laughing out loud here, almost made tears come to my eyes I'm laughing so hard.

I googled weiner probe last night, and web headlines were rife with Beavis and Butthead humor. Most probably intentional, but perhaps not all--

"Nancy Pelosi finally demands Weiner probe" DailyCaller

"New Weiner claims surface. Pelosi asks for probe." MarketWatch

"Nancy Pelosi calls for the House to probe Weiner" RadarOnline

"Nancy Pelosi wants Weiner probe" LiveLeak

"Pelosi calls for Weiner probe" DallasDigestForum

"Nancy Pelosi calls for probe of Weiner" NewsVine

"Pelosi seeks House Ethics probe on Weiner" FreeRepublic

As predicted, bye bye sicko.

Gloria Allred getting involved was final straw. Whole crash is very Tiger-esque.

Just for research purposes? ;)

So apparently the Democratic Party has officially cut off it's Weiner!

She (Ginger Lee) is from the mid tn area and is not a porn star. she is primarily just a run of the mill model.

Just googled to see what you're seeing. Seems she did do a porn or 2. :stare:

She does some nude modeling and figured that was what was being tagged as porn by the media. Had no idea that she did that.

Anyhoo... back to wiener's wiener now...

I'm really disappointed that he caved and resigned. It's a shame that so many people choose to make such demands regarding a personal issue between a man and his wife. Especially when the president's unconstitutional activity is going unchecked and unnoticed.

Just goes to show that americans care more about gossip matters then real issues.

It's just like Arnold. No one cared what he did in the governor's office but everyone cares what he did in the bedroom.

The video I googled did appear to be porn.

Beautiful gal.

The news said she is a former porn star.

The news said she is interested in politics and stays busy with politics-oriented internet messaging.

If she wanted to date me, I'd have to tell her, "I'm sorry. You are obviously an attractive person and you seem nice enough, but I don't like your politics. You are too liberal for me."

Yeah, right.

If I was him I would not have quit. Let the voters from the district he is from decide. It is strictly between him and his wife and his constituents.

There is a laundry list of elected officials who have lapped Weiner in the slime catagory, they are still in office. Freaking Bill Clinton had the presidential cigar smoked in the oval office and he served out his term. Heck what Weiner did is so much less than that.

They are a bunch of hypocrits.

I don't care much about him posting pictures of his junk on the web.

But there are two considerations that concern me.

1. The lesser important-- How many people in private employment, who are employees at least above the lowest level of a company-- How many would get to keep their job if they made international news by posting web-pictures of their junk? The typical employee working for the typical company would be gone in a heartbeat in order to protect the "reputation and good name" of the employer.

Maybe low-level employees would be gone even faster than upper-level employees, because the employer would deem them more expendable and easily replaced.

Military personell would be toast after such a scandal, wouldn't they?

It seems hardly fair that a congresscritter would be "naturally immune" to the same job consequences of scandal that would get about any private sector employee fired on the spot.

Many people would even be clamoring for a welfare mom to get booted off welfare in the wake of such "scandal". Saying, "I don't want my tax money subsidizing a welfare mom strutting her stuff on the internet."

2. The more important issue-- Weiner publically lied his kiester off for two weeks, even publically accusing other individuals of a crime that never happened. We suspect that most politicians are pathological liars, but now with Weiner we know it for a fact. After all this blatant lying, nobody will believe Weiner even is he says the sky is blue. How can he do his job if nobody believes a word he says?

It doesn't matter the topic he was lying about. How would anyone have the slightest confidence in anything the guy has said over his career?

Could you even have such an inveterate liar running a cash register in a convenience store? You would have to hire another employee to stand behind such a liar all day to make sure that liar is not stealing you blind.

Oh my! He lied to cover up an embarrassin and totally private/personal thing?

I tell people that I have never texted wiener pics of me to chicks, too. does my concealing such personal things make me a bad person? Does it affect my work? Does it make me untruthful? No.

Let he who hath not lied (to conceal embarrassing issues) cast the first stone...

Posted (edited)

oh wow he lied, no one else in Washington has ever done that and still served out their term before.

Heck Clinton just reinvented a definition for what sex is.

There may be one or five elected officials in DC above reproach in personal and public life, but I doubt there are many more than that.

it should have been left up to his bosses.

Anyway, he will be back. Guaranteed he will be elected to something again.

If Mr. Werner had not come out lying about this, he may have been OK. Embarrassed and looking like the arrogant ass he is, yes. He is, was a representative of the people. He showed disrespect to the people he represented and to the office he held.

I am glad he is gone. Not for what he did. But for who who is.

In practical sense, the Democrat Party is as much his boss as his constituency -- the party decided the PR hit was too great to keep him, so they fired him.

Hi Strick

There are various ways to look at it. During the Clinton impeachment I felt about as you do, but Weiner's lying is magnitudes more shameless than was Clinton's.

Lying about sex to avoid embarrassment-- The wife says, "That wasn't me at the No-Tell Motel with your brother. That was some other woman that looks like me, driving the same model car." After that are you gonna trust her to manage your finances? I mean, its just a lie about sex and has nothing to do with balancing the checkbook! Right?

A teen gal comes home late after dallying with the boyfriend, and fibs that the car wouldn't start. Thats a little different than fibbing that the car was stolen, or fibbing that she was raped by the police.

It is the lie. It ain't the deed. And it is the magnitude of the lie.

I think both Clintons could have avoided all the hassle and become even more folk heroes if Bill had just said, "Heck yea I did it and it was good too!" Sure a lot of people would have disapproved, but most of them didn't like him anyway and it wasn't a crime to fool around with Monica. It would have worked even better if Hillary chimed in, "I don't care what he does as long as he doesn't bother me with his kinky fantasies." That would have struck a chord of agreement in many older married women.

Weiner could have "slightly fibbed" and said, "I got really drunk and it seemed like a good idea at the time." No problem.

Those guys can get away with murder as long as they don't hide it. Ted Kennedy. Well, actually Ted did get away with murder, but Ted was a harassing pig his entire life but he didn't go to much effort hiding it, and nobody seemed to mind as long as he was a good socialist. Seeing as he didn't sneak around trying to hide the womanizing, then possibly you could trust that Ted was telling at least his version of the truth about public matters.

Or Patrick Kennedy gets off after an intoxicated crash near the capital--

Patrick Kennedy: I Wasn't Drinking - CBS News

"The report that Kennedy appeared to be intoxicated at the time of the crash came from Louis P. Cannon... Cannon says police, depending on the cirumstances do sometime take people to their homes but he believes "because of who he is, courtesies were extended... It it had been you or me, we would have left in handcuffs... Kennedy spent time at a drug rehabilitation clinic before he went to Providence College. He has been open about mental health issues, including being diagnosed with bipolar disorder."

Weiner would have survived fine if he had admitted it, rather than telling REPEATED, SEVERE BALD-FACED LIES. Some news reports say that the final nail in the coffin is that Weiner was also making repeated bald-faced lies to the Democratic leadership, and the leadership was as peed-off about it as was the press.

Sorry, but if he will lie with such a straight face for two weeks on a trivial issue, then he will lie even easier on public legislative business.

See my above post. The Party decides all. The Dems could have kicked Slick Willy out by threatening to vote yea on the impeachment, or failing that, actually voting yea when it went the distance. They didn't.

The main thing with Weiner was the ICK factor. The whole thing is just disgusting, worse than actually doing the nasty and getting caught (although that cigar thang was approaching big time ICK). Even worse than Teddy's homicide, ICK-wise. He couldn't survive the PR of gag-me-with-a-backhoe behavior, especially when he was already such a caustic and irritating personalty.

Lester, first pardon me for not quoting... quoting such a large post is irritating via 3 inch screen.

I also didn't mean to sound like a jackass, if it came across like that. I'm just a smart alec sometimes ;)

To answer your wife question, no, I wouldn't trust her. A wife being untruthful to a husband to cover up extra-martial coidus, as Sheldon would say, is a bit different then her lying to her friends, coworkers, or employers about it.

That's because the personal and private issues of the wife affects her husband.

A wife lying to friends or coworkers about the matter is to prevent an embarrassing and awkward situation.

That would not make her a bad friend or an untrusted employee.

If Wiener **** his pants and lied about it, would that make him an unfit politician?

Hi Strick

There is room for different opinions on it. No absolute answer.

The concept of a fit politician seems something of an oxymoron.

Politicians show their butts in public all the time, just not so explicitly. The photos don't necessarily make him unfit. A minor lie about it would not necessarily make him unfit.

His "unofficial" false report of a crime, even blaming the fictional crime on political enemies. And unrelentingly repeating this lie for so long. That seems kinda sleazy even for a politician. We set the standard pretty low for politicians, but that is pretty dang low!
