AR-15 Angled Risers

So, has anyone set their AR up using Yankee Hill's angled picatinny risers? I can't find any other manufacturer that makes them [other than ebay airsoft garbage] but then again, Yankee Hill? Quality is there, no need to look elsewhere.

I'd like to experiment with one of my AR's by having a scope, and my Eotech at the same time. I've considered the weight and decided it's not an issue. At first I thought I might set my eotech on an angle like I saw Miculek do with his red dot/scoped race rifle. BUT, then I tried shooting with the gun cocked sideways and it was really awkward. SO I played with a junky tasco and some cardboard & duct tape [REDNECK!:P] and I rigged it up with my eotech on the flat top and the scope offset to the left. It seems somewhat comfortable actually. Things will change I'm sure with solid parts, but I think I like it. The other thing I considered was zeroing the scope may require moving the vertical crosshair to one extreme. May not even have enough adjustment depending on the scope used.

Shooting from the scope may not be THE most comfortable but if you're taking a shot you need a scope over the eotech, seems like the extra effort would be warranted.

Has anyone ever used angle risers to mount an offset scope? Does it just look tacticrap sleazy? I'm not a fan of tacticool but variable power scope, eotech w/ flip up BUIS's [full cowitness] seems kinda nice too.

Is there a specific purpose to having a separate magnified optic on your carbine?

Bluntly, Is it something you need? or just want?

Something I remember from my economics class in high school. Wants are insatiable.:P Add to that boredom, spare time and imagination....No I can't justify a need of it. Just wanna try it. :D

From the first time I saw the angle mounts a few years ago; I have thought about Chewie's bow caster. Remember, it had two scopes on it side by side. Now that's pretty much useless to all non-wookies, but it does get the mind wandering.

That's a lot of stuff to hang off one rifle. I can totally see backup irons or a small reflex sight at an angle. As to having both and eotech and a full scope, I'm just not seeing it. That's what magnifiers are for.

But, to each there own. If you want to do it, can make it work, and can get a decent check weld, then I say go for it, and be proud of it.

and be proud of it.

That'll be the hard part. That's why I was asking. I can't find a picture of anyone ever doing it. Maybe there's a hidden message in that.

I have had a 2-7 Burris on an AR then had a picatinny mount that clamped to the scope tube mounted to the scope. I mounted a Burris Fastfire on the picatinny at about a 45 degree angle. You could have it right above or any angle to about 90 degrees. It worked well for me and I planned on using it overseas but never had a chance to.

This is the mount I used:

SAR1 (1") ‹ Catalog Products ‹ Products ‹ Tactical Night Vision Company

It clamps to the scope tube.
