TVA temporarily closing the Gallatin Gun Club range‏

Today we received notice from TVA about geotechnical investigations they are planning at the Gallatin Plant. To perform the investigation safely the range will be closed Monday through Friday daylight to dark starting Wednesday June 15, 2011 through December 31, 2011.

TVA and its contractors will be working in the area. These investigations are for the feasibility of placing a future Coal Combustion Product storage site. They involve large areas within the railroad loop at the plant. There will be heavy equipment to drill and install testing features such as wells. Some of the wells located at the boundaries of the shooting range may stay in place after the investigation period to continue gathering data.

The range will be open on weekends only June 15 - Dec 31, 2011. We will notify you if there are any changes. Check the web gallatingun.com for our schedule of events.

Are you going to offer your own memberships or is it going to be GGC members only?

I do have full autos and would like my first BIG match to be the TN SMG Shootout!

I hate this too. GGC range to close starting June 15 thur Dec. 2011. I have been a member since the early 90's. I hate going out there on the weekends. To many members there. I have to wait to shoot. Some Saturdays that I have tried to shoot. I gave up and went back home because all of the shooting lanes were full. I really like going out there during the week. Now that is over for 6 months. Thanks TVA. Do we get a refund on the range being closed for so long? Proably not. gearyr
