The question really is, do you think 6 is enough?

What is the reasonable maximum amount of guys you could expect to encounter when using your gun?

If you had to use it, what number of rounds do you think you would use on average per person?

For me, those numbers are 3 and 3. I have since switched my gun from one that carries 8 to one that carries 13.

But thats just me. Carry what you feel comfortable carrying.

I'll also ask you another question back- why the GP-100? What is it that you are looking for in a gun? There are TONS of guns out there. Make sure you take a good look and think hard about what you really want.

If I was working security I would carry a double stack .45acp with two spare magazines. That's just me though. No need to be under gunned if the situation presented itself. I would probably carry a backup as well. I would feel good with my xd45 and two spare mags, that's 13+1 and 13+13, also my .380 S&W with 6+1 and 6 in the spare magazine. That would put the round count at 53 and not be to bulky or heavy.

That's a little much for a every day carry but if your working security that puts you in a higher risk category. I would want every advantage I could get.

Also consider that, assuming you don't absolutely need the same gun for work and for general carry, armed security tends to mean open carry and you can get away with a nice full sized gun.
