Well, the wife subscribed to it. I read it with a box of salt handy & a barf bag. It's

the only paper we get in the boonies. At least we have the option of changing

the channel on tv. Not much different than the local networks. Weather is still

somewhat unbiased. LOL

last week or so i emailed gail kerr if gannett was in such bad shape that they had to have non-funeral related ads in the obits?

the next morning i read that 30-34 people would be laid off from the paper. she never wrote me back,so i will take that as a yes.

newsroom lay offs announced to-day to include biddle.

UT board says there is a rumour they will drop monday and tuesday issues, tues wed would be more reasonable as monday sports are big.

i understand that coupons can be downloaded from somewhere,if that is the only reason to keep subscribing.

i look at the rag to see what stores to stay out of. the people at gannett are not your friends.

When we moved here from Oklahoma, I thought about it. I read a few at the library and my wife did also and we both found it to be Pravda on the Cumberland. I never subscribed and even told the idiots that call me wanting me to why I won't.

For awhile we got it free from our elderly neighbors who subscribed. We got it after they were done in the morning. We still rarely read it. I would read the cartoons and then toss it.

when thomas jefferson went on about he would prefer newspapers without gov't. to gov't. without newspapers he could not see a time when we had neither.

or gov't. equal to the tennessean anyway.

FWIW, newsstand price has gone up from $.75 / daily, to $1.00. Sunday, from $1.75 to $2.00.

Subscription per month, from $17.00 to $31.00.

The size of the paper wouldn't last 3 days in an outdoor toilet. Yeah, I remember that. LOL

They took the option away from the Southern Middle part of the state, not that it mattered to me. No delivery in Coffee Co since 2010. Can get it at the store if I wanted it, but also have access to Chattanooga and Huntaville papers.

I hadn't noticed the price increase, the wife must have paid it. Will have to rethink it. As to why? To be honest, Dilbert :2cents: I mean I do the Sudoku and the X-word and skim the rest to help pass the down time. Think it's time to get a new computer book. Heck catch 'em on sale and I could get a new one every month for $31!!
