Size DOES matter

Size DOES matter!

I recently bought a Sig 1911 Carry and a Sig 1911 Scorpion. I am very particular about holsters and I cant find a any locally that I like so I am gonna have to order one online. I have had bad experiences ordering online with holsters being advertised to fit a certain gun, but then do not. The Sig Carry is not as well known as some others and the Scorpion is unheard of among most holster companies it seems.

I am assuming that the Sig Carry is the same size as a Colt commander, as far as buying a holster goes, is that right? Also, what does the Scorpion compare to, sizewise? Most manufacturers dont even list the Sig 1911s, but High Noon Holsters does list the Sig GSR with rail. Does anyone know if that is dimensionly the same as the Sig Scorpion? And also which more common pistol does it compare with size wise?

So to summarize, for holster purposes:

Question 1: Which more common 1911 manufacturer's pistols are the same size as the Sig Carry?

Question 2: Which more common manufacturers pistols are the same size as the Sig Scorpion, AND is the Scorpion the same size as the GSR with rail? Also, the Scorpion has an ambi safety, so that COULD be a problem with some holsters possibly.

It seems that most list the Colt's for sure and sometimes others, but comparisons with Colt might be more useful to me. Thanks in advance!

I have NEVER had a problem with a 1911 holster not fitting a 1911.

Many 1911s have ambi safetys so i highly doubt that would be a problem.

From what I can tell about the Sig, its no different than any other 1911. Thats whats so wonderful about 1911s!

Just pick a holster of appropriate 1911 size (barrel length) and get it. Pick a manufactorer that allows returns (most do) and dont worry about it.

If for some very odd reason it doesnt fit, you can just return it.

Not to mention you can always get one holster that should fit both those guns.

Check D. M Bullard's "in stock" holsters. We have several, and they are a great product. Ya may find what you are looking for there.

Good luck.

Great idea! I've looked at them before but didn't think of them for these guns.

I've got a D.M. Bullard for a commander sized 1911 and a couple kydex options for full size weapons with rails. If you want to come down to Brentwood, you're more than welcome to try them out on your particular weapon.

The Scorpion is the same as the base 1911 made by Sig as far as size.

The Carry is about 1 inch over all length shorter but the same otherwise EXCEPT the carry has been de-horned so it will fit a touch loose in some holsters vs the non carry. It also will be a different fit (feel) between leather and other holster materials.

Then each different holster size or fit will vary to what the owners likes.

As one holster may fit my gun perfect to me it maybe to loose for you.

Kinda like shoes. Not all size 12s fit the same.
