My Aim Is Getting Better

I took all the advice and suggestions and here's the results.

I noticed when I tried to fire again too quickly, I was way off target, but when I just slowed down and took time to re-align my aim, I could make it to the center.

I know it's not great compared to some of you, but for me, it's a thrill.

That is pretty dang good shootin. I only saw 2 off the body, out of how many rounds, 100 or so? And with about 85% center mass and head shoots. I'd call that a good day.

Looks like you shoot just fine, gonna scratch you off my list of homes to break into , okay I am not breaking into anyones home.

Do you focus on the front site?

After I got the advice here on my last target, yes, I took extra time to ensure I was using the front sight as my focus. I think that made quite a bit of difference. The first shot I fired, was right in the center. I was so surprised I squealed like a girl.

But when I tried to pick up speed, I lost my focus. When I slowed back down, it came right back to the middle.

Um, I hate to state the obvious, but well uh...

Congratulations!

Remember, slow is smooth, and smooth is fast. Focus on doing things correctly and smoothly, the fast part will just sorta happen on it's own.

I am not an instructor, just a semi old IPSC/IDPA shooter but you are doing the right thing.Start out shooting slow groups and work up to shooting faster while maintaining a focus on the front sight and when the shots start spreading out to what looks like the 7 ring turn it back down to the tight shots to finish up.After a while you will notice your accuracy will keep up with the speed. At least that has worked for me.Good Luck.

Thats great Dixie! Maybe you can help me, I keep shooting 1-2" bottom and left....EVERY time. Everyone has given me suggestions and it seems that no matter what I do, its either dead center, or bottom and left!

Probably already heard these two suggestions, but these were the two things that made the biggest difference for me in my "Low and to the left" issues.

1. Changing my grip to move the thumb of my right hand further forward (or on my 1911s, to keep my thumb on top of the safety) and then keeping my left thumb above and slightly forward of the trigger.

Example:

2. Having someone else load snapcaps into my magazines. I didnt realize how bad I was anticipating recoil before this.

Tiger basketball fan.

Vol football fan.

Can't shoot either one. If the Tigers just HAD to lose to someone, I'd rather it be UT than anyone else.
