Acquired Nice Wincherster 62A from the mid 50's

A couple of friends gave me a Winchester 62A from the mid 50's today, about 90+ condition. This is the same model I learned to shoot Bantam roosters out of the roosting trees on my grandpa's farm back in the early 60's. So now I have no need to hunt for a Remington 572 to trade one of my Ruger MKIII's for. The 62A shoots Colibras just fine. Therefore I paid it forward by giving my "custom" MKIII 22/45 to a young guy who likes to shoot but hasn't a decent .22 pistol.

You are a good man. Not only did you get a nice rifle, and do a good deed for a young man and shooting sports, but you kept me from offering up my LCR. Actually I probably should have anyway. Never even loaded it...and after seeing your work, I was drooling over the 22/45. Even though I have a stock one just like it. So I'll just keep it for trade or maybe try to sell it sometime. I just really keep coming back to the Jframe and my Taurus for a revolver carry. The LCR feels good in hand, but after shooting one, I'm just not as excited about it as beforehand.

Very nice. I'm trying to grease the wheels on a 62 purchase/acquire myself. Yours seems to be considerably nicer than my potential rifle however. Good find! Great friends too! And as others have said, what a great thing you have done with your pistol.

I recently scored a 63 from '41 thats a real beauty. 62 and 67 are both on the short list. Without a doubt the 62 is a classic. With all the fancy modern firearms that are out there, classic 22 RF's still are my favorite and are my most cherished firearms that I collect. Nice rifle again.
