Now I'm looking for a new pair of boots. I need a boot for everyday wear. I'll also be hiking in them. I want something that will last a long time. My Merrell's were nice, but don't last long. I've heard the U.S. made Danner's are nice, but don't know if you can find those in Knoxville. Any other suggestions?

I picked up a pair of Gore-Tex Asolo boots from sierratradingpost.com about 3yrs ago. They've held up wonderfully.

I have been really happy with my Keen boots. One full season of hiking with plenty of mud, rain, and gravel and they have held up far better than I would have expected. But...if Merrells fit you well, the Keens may be a bit wide in the toebox for you. They are designed for slightly wide feet.

I have a pair of Merrell hiking boots and I love them. Light weight, comfortable, not mall ninja-esque, either.

In all seriousness try a pair of Doc Martens. Yeah I know they are not a tactical or combat style boot but they are seriously comfortable. Try to find a pair that has at least 8-10 sets of eyelets, they will be high enough for good ankle support. They are a bit more expensive but way worth it. Most comfortable boots I have ever had.

I wear Doc martens at work. If you go this route, shop the industrial line. They far out pace the regular docs in fit, finish, an durability.

I have two pair that I wear. A brown pair that I've been wearing day in and day out for 5 years, and a black pair that are going on 2 years. Both get used on railroad ballast and offer great ankle support.

I tried on a pair of Doc Marten's. They were comfortable, but they felt like I was wearing two pounds of mud on each boot. Is the industrial line lighter?

I've got a pair of durango style boots made by the Doc. I like'em a lot, but wouldn't hike in them.

I got some merrill,s from dicks. They were around 110..00 perfect for hiking.

Definitely not. Although the price has come down some. My wife bought me a pair of full quill as a graduation present when I got out of college. They were around $600. Boots are the one of the very few things I will spend money on like guns. It does pay to buy quality.

I'm in construction, and I would hate to ruin a nice pair of boots like that. I was thinking more along the lines of lace ups.

I've got a pair of 5.11 boots that are comfortable, but the lining is already tearing up in them. The outside is fine though. 5.11 has been having some quality issues lately. I've lost buttons on shirts, belt loops on pants, and now lining in boots. I'm not that hard on my stuff either.

I've been thinking about trying out some more Rocky brand boots. They are pretty durable.

I've never owned any Hi-Tec tacticoolio boots, but I had a pair of Hi-Tec hikers that have held up very nicely. Really light and comfortable too.

I've been thinking about trying out some more Rocky brand boots. They are pretty durable.

I have been wearing my Rocky hunting boots for about 8 years. Comfortable and well made.

I alternate between Asolo goretex boots that I have had for about 7 years, Vasque Goretex that I have had for about as long, some LawPro 8 hole patrol style boots, and a pair of jump boots that I have had for about 13 years.

When I was younger and backpacked/camped often, I swore by my Vasque. I went through two different pairs. The only thing I changed was to get rid of the laces as they broke and replaced them with para cord. My Asolo are about worn flat, as I tend to ride the motorcycle in them at times. I am thinking about picking up a pair of 5.11 side zip boots soon though to add into the rotation.

I have a pair of Montrail gore tex hikers that I wear almost daily and love. Also have a pair of 5.11 tactical boots (side zip) that are nice and comfy.

I also have a pair of Frye Ropers that I love to wear when I want to look cowboy cool for my wife.

If "sheep herders" is a code name for "butt pirates" or "anal swashbucklers", then yes, they were sheep herders.

Call me old fashioned, but I still wear Justin cowboy boots and jeans when I ain't at work. I considered some tactical boots and BDU's but I am more affraid of mall ninja jokes than Brokeback Mountain jokes.
