Nice video. What would keep one from converting that into a fully working gun?

The law... and possibly structural issues which might make that noisemaker unsuitable for real ammunition.

Am I right in assuming all that gun can do is shoot blanks? If so, what would be the purpose in having one?

I do think that it would be a useful template though on which to full auto a "real" gun or at least pull some good ideas off of.

After, of course, filling out the proper paperwork for the BATFE's approval...

It is not particularly hard to make most "real" guns full auto. It has been, unfortunately, illegal to produce a machine gun since 1986 (or at least as I understand the law).

A full auto Beretta is called a 93R and will cost you a lot more than $199.IIRC the Mack Bolan charactor used one in the books.

It's pretty easy although illegal to turn a glock into full auto. I know 4 or 5 people that have done it. But why would you want to. I can just see the dumb kid getting one of these and getting his dumb butt shot.

I had a G17 go auto on me once.It fired 4 rds and jammed. The only thing myself and the others around could think of was a brass shaving from the case head lodged in the striker tunnel and kept the striker in the fired position. It has not done it since. Also heard the same thing happened at the TN State.IDPA match last year.

It happened to a friend of mine. Also there was talk about it happening to someone's FEG PA 63 on the Makarov boards.

had a scary few moments with a friends AR not long ago. It is an older preban colt that is just plain worn and shoot out. Every spring and many of the internals just need to be replaced. It fired a few two and four shot bursts before we decided that it was not possible to diagnose the problem without a full tear down.

Full auto when you are not expecting it is not really all that fun and makes you appreciate proper shooting and range safety practices.
