Obama on Israeli Borders

We are said to be world police to everyone unless it's Israel in which case it is covering our ally. What has Israel done for us?

We are said to be a lot of things. So what? I guess if it's said somewhere it must be true.

So you pick your friends by how much they do for you.

I am talking about this very site and I am sure you have done it yourself regarding the "world police" bit.

As to your other statement.

I pick them by how much they matter. Israel doesnt matter to me.

I am curious, what has Austrailia done for us lately?

As for worlds police, we put ourselves in that position. The UN is the worlds police last time I checked. The US is the largest military in the UN. I suppose it only makes sense that we end up policing everybodies elses mess.

I am sure I am wrong though.

Well... I do believe Israel is one of, if not our greatest ally. Look at their UN voting record. They vote with the US more than any other country (almost 98%). Compare that to Egypt (around 18%) to whom we have given billions. In regards to Israel not being an active, militarily speaking, participant in our wars in Afganistan, Iraq, and Lybia is just hogwash. Israel would be more than willing to commit troops, but we have told them to abstain.

While I was alive during the Carter administration, I was too young to know what was going on. Surely he could have not been this inept. Obama has to be the biggest horse's ass that has been in the white house. Even if he is defeated in 2012, what will the condition of the country be?

Mav:_____________

Your assessment RE: nobama is exactly on target. Having said that, here is a bit of background and assessment RE: Carter and the pesky jews:

Right now its a dead heat i would say RE: stupidity in foreign relations. While Carter was a buffon, he was likeable (...to some extent....). Nobama is a buffon and is unlikeable to boot. I think that american jewry should rethink their politics.

Nobama (...and many other traditional black polititians and political operatives....) is rabidly anti-israel. I'm not sure why --- maybee minority status envy---... Strangely enough, there is also within the demorat party a contingent of "self loathing" jews who dont like israel either. Danged if i know why; its the ultimate "lemmings jumping into the sea" thing in my view -- probably the same trash that liked the communists in russia and made the germans mad. I think it's laughable that the great Nobama would simply "demand" that the pesky jews draw back to the pre 67 war borders.

Remember this: the pesky jews dont really need our help (...in my view, at least...), we need their help. We are foolish, arrogant, and (...i think...) providentially blinded to believe that the pesky jews cant take care of themselves.

Remember; they have a couple of things we do not have going for them. Number one, they have the God of the Bible on their side (...really.... they do.... remember there are 60 million arabs in the middle east that hate the pesky jews and have sworn to destroy them (...starting over 60 years ago...), and only about 7 million pesky jews. The jews are still winnin every round of the bout. While the arabs talk tough; they simply cant win. Nothing but providential intervention explains this phenemenon; to me, at least...). Number two, they have a pretty united backbone right now (...for the first time in a long time...). There is no real sympathy of the alleged "plight" of the palestinians" in israel now, and thats been a long time comming.

I predict that we will wake up one morning and that the pesky jews will have saved the middle east again (...for the third or fourth time...) by slapping Iran back into the stone age (...around their nuclear facilities, at least...) and slapping anyone else who would overtly use weapons against them--- all without asking anyone's "permission"..

They do this ever so often (...think the syrian and iraqui nuclear programs, strikes against olympic games murders, etc, the occasional assination of nuclear scientists and researchers here the other day...). The world becomes indignant and criticizes the pesky jews for a while for having saved the middle east yet again. The United Nations anti-semites will take turns villifying the jews for a while. After they run out of breath, everyone will again breath a collective sigh of relief that the pesky jews have saved the world for another few years.

In my view, it is the ultimate arrogance for a chump like nobama and a bunch of overbearing polititians and bureaucrat operatives like the clintons to "demand" that the pesky jews do anything. I say...."keep talkin". Show everyone in the world and in the good ole usa just how stupid you are. Remember, there aint no "israeli terrorists" hollering "ahla akbar" and shootin up americans or blowin up their brothers; and most people are beginning to understand that.

Just because you don't see Israeli uniforms in places where we are doesn't mean they aren't there. They are our eyes and ears in areas where we can't go and they are working all over Asia. I'll stand with Israel; I respect their tenacity.

YUou want an end to the Palestinian problem, talk to the other Middle Eastern countries. They didn't fulfill their part of the bargain out of the 1948 partition agreement because if they had, their treatment of their own people would have become a matter of world concern much sooner, witness the "Arab Spring" movement now. Also, most Middle Eastern countries don't want Palestinians in their country. In almost 60 years, they still live in dismal conditions because they are more concerned with revenge and besting internal factiions.

Samson Option - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

>> The Samson Option is a term used to describe Israel’s alleged deterrence strategy of massive retaliation with nuclear weapons as a “last resort†against nations whose military attacks threaten its existence, and possibly against other targets as well. Israel refuses to admit it has nuclear weapons or to describe how it would use them, an official policy of nuclear ambiguity, also known as "nuclear opacity." This has made it difficult for anyone outside the Israeli government to definitively describe its true nuclear policy, while still allowing Israel to influence the perceptions, strategies and actions of other governments. <<

>> As early as 1976, the CIA believed that Israel possessed 10 to 20 nuclear weapons. By 2002 it was estimated that the number had increased to between 75 and 200 thermonuclear weapons, each in the multiple-megaton range. Kenneth S. Brower has estimated as many as 400 nuclear weapons. These can be launched from land, sea and air. This gives Israel a second strike option even if much of the country is destroyed. <<

The USA arsenal is reputedly much larger but the USA arsenal mostly contains sub-megaton weapons, many of which are 200 KT and below. If the Israeli stock is primarily multi-megaton, then that might imply a different strategy in the "global thermonuclear war" game?

As far as I can find out, most nations modern arsenals don't contain many true "city busters"? Not that 200 KT is a BB gun, but still...

>> In 2002, the Los Angeles Times published an opinion piece by Louisiana State University professor David Perlmutter in which he wrote: "Israel has been building nuclear weapons for 30 years. The Jews understand what passive and powerless acceptance of doom has meant for them in the past, and they have ensured against it. Masada was not an example to follow — it hurt the Romans not a whit, but Samson in Gaza? What would serve the Jew-hating world better in repayment for thousands of years of massacres but a Nuclear Winter. Or invite all those tut-tutting European statesmen and peace activists to join us in the ovens? For the first time in history, a people facing extermination while the world either cackles or looks away--unlike the Armenians, Tibetans, World War II European Jews or Rwandans--have the power to destroy the world. The ultimate justice?" <<

I like the post above. Especially this:

>> General Moshe Dayan: "Israel must be like a mad dog, too dangerous to bother." <<

Polititians of every stripe the world over would do well to memorize this little quip from probably the greatest of Jewish Military Men (...and there have been some great ones...).

I am a great admirer and supporter of the "pesky jews". I say let the usa and others (...who are wise enough...) hold the zionist cloak while they whip the rest of the world. If anyone gets a good grip on them, we need to kick 'em off and the rearm the jews. God bless 'em (...He is anyway...).

Keep up the good work.

For me it's very simple why we should support Israel. They are the only 'sane' country in the region. No dictatorship, reasonably free country, free press and speech, hard-working people, an example of what hard work and dedication could make EVERY country in the Middle East into. Flying into Israel in the Spring is an eye-opener. Brown as far as the eye can see except for Israel. You can tell where the borders are from 32,00 feet by where the land is green and where it is desert. Look at Israel in Google Earth for a graphic display of this.

You guys summed it up quite well.

Luckily their Galil rifle is reported to be at least as reliable as our military rifles in desert conditions.

As for their Air Force pilots, not only is their Officer Candidate School much more strenuous than our "90-day Wonder" program (near Lackland, S.A. TX), they prepare for actual war with a high chance of any ejection being over wide-open, enemy territory, and the chance of being captured by the ruthless Hezbollah etc.

You can imagine how tougher their training for must be, to face being a POW. Must be more grueling than what our Naval Aviators and NFOs went through years ago.

I imagine that their jets' maintenance programs are at least as good as ours. It's one thing to have an engine flame-out with plenty of max. continuous thrust coming from the good engine (F-15), but in combat that would be quite a challenge, relying on a wing man or two.

Great explanation of why Israel needs to keep its borders where they are.

The Jewish people are not foreign occupiers. We’re not the British in India, or the Belgians in the Congo. This is the land of our forefathers… no distortion of history will deny the 4000 year old bond between the Jewish people and the Jewish land.

Excerpt from Benjamin Netanyahu, speech to US Congress 2011.

Daniel, their history is well documented and they were given back their land. They didn't steal it from anyone and they are a lone ray of light in a dark part of the world. Palestine does not exist and their claim to that land is bogus. There are plenty of reasons to defend their right to that land. Also, there are lots of resources on Israel excluding the Bible in case you wish to stay away from religion. They are one of our best friends in the world.

Very possibly, information you(being in the military) acted upon, came from the Israelis, so yes, they could very well have had your back and you didn't know it.
