A few seconds of google produced a range of 600-750 with the 750 being new. Since gun prices include backgroud checks, shipping, and fees while your BIL does not charge these things, $700 for a mint/new gun is probably reasonable at-a-glance -- but you should do your own google price check before you decide.

A friend of mine has a Para P12-45. Very good firearm. Accurate and easy to shoot. Has given no problems that I know of. Worst I can say about it is that it's a little wide with a doubles stack 45 mag.

Is the P10 a single or double stack version? 40 can be a little brisk to shoot for some, but the stainless frame should help with the recoil on it. Does the size fit your hand? Is it comfortable to hold and shoot for you?

With 300 rounds of ammo, figure roughly 80 bucks, and in the shape you say...I'd say it's a fair price, moreso for him than you, but not really out of line.

If it suits you...offer 600 and be prepared to go up if you really want it.

Good luck.
