Forgive me if this is in the wrong forum. If so, please move it mods. Also I did a search but didnt really find any good info....

Anywho, anyone have any ideas why there arent any indoor ranges in Clarksville? Its a pretty decent size place, 5th largest city in TN, but has no indoor range at all? Looks like with the amount of people here an indoor range would be a good money maker. There's obviously a large military presence because of Ft Campbell & I'm sure all the soldiers love to shoot. Do they have their own range on post that they all go to, so people think an indoor range isnt needed in Clarksville?

We have the Montgomery County Shooting Complex waaaay the hell out in the middle of nowhere. Its not very convenient, thats for sure. And the schedule on their website is crap. I drove all the way out there on Mother's Day because their website said they were gonna be open that Sunday AND I had called them a few days earlier & they TOLD me over the phone they would be open, but I get there after a 30 min drive & the gate was shut with a sign saying they were closed. That left a real bad taste in my mouth about that place. Plus being an outdoor range it closes before sunset which is a real pain since I dont get home from work til later in the afternoon. They arent even open Monday through Wednesday....

So I've been driving up to Joelton to go to the Academy of Self Protection's range. Its a nice range, but it just seems weird that I have to drive so far to go to a range when I'm sure there's lots of people just like me in Clarksville who wish we had one here. I guess I could check out the one in Hopkinsville but really thats about the same distance away as Joelton......

If I win the lottery I'm gonna open an indoor range in Clarksville & quadruple my investment in the first year hahaha ;)

I sometimes wish there was one too. There is a range in chapmansboro (google it to see where that is) that I uses to frequent. I don't know their current hours or schedule but it is outdoors and has a rifle range too. Very informal range so be prepared. It is south of sango just off 41.

I live out in the county and shoot at home but it is fun to go to the range every now and then. I hope you win the lottery. I can't cause I don't play.

When I was growing up I lived out in the country & shot a lot. I always thought that I wanted to live in a city. Now that I'm here in the city limits I'm starting to see the freedom that living in the country can afford you, & I'm starting to miss it. ;)

Are you talking about the range at Custom Gunsmith or something like that? I thought they had shut down or something. I dont think their website is up anymore.

Yes I am. Funny you would ask, I just had a thread where I was asking that same thing. I have been too busy over the past year to make it out there and have heard the stories too. Apparently they are still open. I will probably stop by there this weekend. Website isn't up anymore, not sure why.

Closest one I know about and use is in Hopkinsville KY. Go to Hopkinsville and turn left at the 3d light, right turn will take you to Wal-Mart.

Kentucky Shell Shop, 101 Hammond Drive, (270) 885-1868.

Only has two lanes but nice folks. $20 per year plus $10 per hour.

I do not think Clarksville political clime is friendly enough for folks to open and run a range, way too much money and rules from what I understand.

I may check out The Shell Shop sometime. Altho $10 per hour seems a little steep. Its $12 for unlimited time at ASP & on June 1st its dropping to $10 for unlimited time. I think Im gonna try & call that place in Chapmansboro sometime & see what they say. If they are still open, how much they charge, etc.

It would be awesome if TN Gun Country could open a range behind their store.... :-D

+1

yes it would. They could point the range at Dodge's store and kill two birds with one stone.

i'm just outside clarksville close to the shooting complex, i'm toying with the idea of building a real outdoor range, not just my target stands into the hillside, we've got 13 acres just down hwy 149. you're welcome to come shoot if you need practice, my brother in law and i do a lot, of coarse i'd like to make sure everyone is safe (not every gun owner is a responsible one). the neighbors don't care, they're used to it. just no .50's i have nothing that can stop that round.
