Get your head out of your I-Berry! There is a REAL world out there!

I saw a picture of the crowd watching the space shuttle launch last week. Over half of the people in the photo were watching the launch thru their cell phones and I-berrys. Why couldn't they just watch the launch in real life?

I saw two guys at work sitting right next to each other and the were TEXTING EACH OTHER! Why don't they just talk?

Other kids at work will whip out that little screen at a moments notice and start doodling with it. Why don't they just concentrate on their work?

Young people can't seem to go 5 minutes without be mesmerized by this little box with pretty pictures...............I'm getting old.........

You're not getting old [well, all of us are but] you're just immune to the most effective mental assault ever made. This form of mind and lifestyle control has the majority of 30 somethings and younger by the proverbial testes. Not much different from this blame interwebz.

I am not 30 yet....and sometimes I can't stand my phone.....I am looking forward to going to spring river when it doesn't even work.

I'm 26, and the last few days I have been without a phone due to my BB just up and checking out....I must say, I have not minded it at all really. Other than the fact that my wife is preg and I like for her to be able to get me if she needs me, it's been good. I would say I have a good grasp on how to balance it out. My phone, iPad, Mac...they are not my lifelines and I can survive without them.

I'm 51 and I have no testes but I love my blackberry and my iPad! I go nowhere without both of them and my 38! The iPad has my music, pics, books, and games on it- plus it is 3G so I am always on the Internet and it has an awesome GPS system! My BB is my way of staying connected!

I'd have to agree with CLC ('cept for the "no testes" part!). I recently upgraded to 3G, and find it very useful when checking values or model stats at gun shows, etc. I hope to download my tunes and set up an alternate e-mail account this weekend. Techno is good, but like anything, "moderation in moderation" is a good rule to follow. Gotta admit being able to snap a picture and shoot it off to someone is pretty neat/cool/swift.

To quote a quote:

"You're not getting old...the music DOES suck!"

Music from the 50's-80's will still be widely played in the future. That from from the 90's on, not as much.

Listen to all the "re-recorded" Muzak-type stuff you hear in malls, restaurants, elevators, phone hold systems. They'll still be playing Beatles melodies in 3075. Oh wait, I forget the world ends this Sat. Or 2012, whichever.

AND ANOTHER THING! You walk up to someone and stand right in front of them and start talking to them. After about half a sentence you realize they are a thousand miles away. Then you notice the little ear phones in their ear. Then they look up like "hey, that guy is talking to me." , remove one ear phone and say "what?" so you got to start talking all over again.......OR You're standing in line at the grocery store and the dude behind starts talking right out of the blue. You think, "that guys is crazy!" but he has a ear phone on and he's talking to someone. So you get to here this guys private conversations................

I'm going on a canoe camping trip in a few weeks. Smallmouth fishing on the French Broad River. I really need to get out in the woods and back to nature. :D.

It's good to be alive and in Tennessee!

A few weeks ago I took my daughter and her family to a very nice meal in Nashville. After finishing the meal, the ladies excused themselves leaving me with my sil. Now he's a great guy and I like him a lot, but when the ladies left, he took out his I-Berry Whatever and proceeded to play a game. I looked at him and nicely told him to put it away. He laughed and continued to play. I told him "seriously, we're in a fine restraunt, it's rude, and if you don't put it away, I will take it from you." With a surprised look, he put it away. Later he apologised to me. Sometimes you have to re-educate the young 'uns.

I think you are right! We need to let them know when they are acting inappropietly. Of course the kids say I'm too nice of a guy. I was somplaing about a guy next to me on an airplane and how talked at me through the entire flight.

The young guy said. "Why were you so polite to the dude. You will never see him again, NEVER. I'd tell him to STFU and to keep his $#&% on his side of the seat! I ain't gonna let some weirdo ruin my flight."

Kids today. This young guy is an idiot for thinking that they will never meet again. It's a small world and it is not uncommon for people to meet again. If I do meet him again he will remember the long talk we had and he will consider me a friend. might even help me out. What if I had been an ass to that guy and we met again. We would not be friends and he would not help me.

You be polite to starngers, treat them with respect and kindess. Turn the other cheek to their transgressions because you will meet again.

Very good points! On a recent flight to Chicago a fellow in the next seat talked my ear off, for the entire flight. I really wasn't in the mood, but "What the heck!" I thought. Upon arriving at O'Hare, and grabbing my bag, I discovered that the taxi line was miles long, and rain was falling in torrents. I took my place at the end of the line. Heck, I couldn't even see the beginning of the line! My 'seat-mate' walked past, turned and asked "How's it going?" I pointed at the line and laughed. He motioned to follow him. Turns out, his company had a van and a driver waiting for him. I tossed my stuff in the van, and YES, listened to another 45 minutes of talk-talk-talk, BUT they dropped me at my hotel downtown, and wouldn't take a dime for their trouble.

You just never know!

If my FIL said that to me we'd fight for sure. I have seen just as many 50 something businessmen and women in fine eating establishments using their crackberries and iPads. This is far from an age issue with "young ins"

It's 2011, it may be rude to your immediate table members to be on your device, but its certainly not common ettiqquit to not use your device in a fine eatery.
