Getting a hangun soon, questions about the Xdm 3.8 compact.

Recommended Posts

I would like to know from the experienced carriers. How does the Xdm 3.8 compact 9/.40 weapon feel concealed inside the waist and out. Things like, does it feel ok to move around in, weight, basic or detailed situations would be great. I am new to hand guns and going to start conceal carrying and open carry every now and then. So any input would be great =).

I carry an XDSC and I really don't see how you'd carry it inside the wait band. I carry it in a blackhawk holster outside the waist band and cover it with a shirt or jacket. It's a great gun but would be a load inside the waist band.

Bigger pants? Lose some weight? You would be surprised what you can make fit (comfortably, even) IWB.

+1.

The key is a quality holster. With the right holster even full size guns are no problem. My full size M&P in a DM Bullard Dual Carry in IWB mode works just fine.

XDM compact should be no diff than carrying XD subbie. The M is better part of an inch longer than the XD SC, otherwise essentially the same. Barrel length isn't nearly as big a factor for concealment as grip size.

There are many thousands of folks carrying an XD subbie IWB. I do, no worries (though I've been carrying mostly a pocket gun again for a while due to other reasons).

I used the above mentioned Bullard Dual Carry for a good while, great holster, then went to a TT Gunleather (avatar).
