Tokarev Experts enter here.. (Yugo M57 help needed)

Recommended Posts

I'm attempting to troubleshoot my Yugo M57. If you know anything about these things, you know the back of the trigger bar rides against the top of a spring (trigger return spring). For whatever reason, the trigger bar on my M57 slides off the notch where it sits on top of that spring and slides downward, effectively "locking up" the trigger. Dropping and reinserting the mag will typically push the trigger bar back up onto the spring.

There really isn't too much too these guns, but this one is driving be crazy. I read that some issues can be caused by the thumb safety, so I removed it completely today for testing purposes. It didn't help. I shot it with one of the grips removed so you can plainly see how the trigger bar is falling out of position. It doesn't do it every shot, but at least once per mag.

Shooting WWB Tok ammo and Polish surplus.

Ideas, anyone?

Picture disclaimer: Yes, there is a live round in the chamber and a couple in the mag. The pistol was laying on the table facing downrange when this picture was taken.

Try this:

If this doesn't work try this one:

I might be wrong but it looks like there's a spring missing or the groove that the trigger extension rides in is sloppy.

No, no missing parts. I'm thinking perhaps the spring is just weak. I'm going to either bend this one slightly or swap in another one and see what happens. There are only so many parts to replace on these old things.
