Bought the S&W 36 today has the diamond round butt grips mod 36 no dash 1 7/8 barrel flat latch nickel plate serial # 136***. Does anyone know what year it was made? Flat latch should put it earlier than 1966 but no earlier than 1958 because of the model number thanks in advance. Pictures to follow.

In 1957 the serial numbers reached 125,000. In 1962 they were up to 295000 so my best guess would be 1958. To know for sure you would have to get a factory letter.
