AR-15 Parts Question

Recommended Posts

Ok, here's the back story. I managed to lose the Ejection port cover hinge pin snap ring on my AR. You know the little tiny clip that locks the hinge in place.

So naturally I go to Midway to find one. They have them for @ $2 bucks and a little shipping.

That got me thinking, I could likely buy this thing from the local hardware store for .50 or so.

Has anyone ever seen or compiled a list of commonly available AR parts and sizes?

You know the roll pins, springs, items you could easily pick up at Lowes or Advance for a few cents? The common non specialized type components?

If you havent already ordered one, PM me your address and I'll drop one in the mail to you. Those little buggers do tend to fly off when changing the dust cover. Don't ask me how I know. :chill:

Thanks for the offer to help. I already have some on order.

That clip went flying off there at MACH 90!

It just so happens that is the exact speed needed to get it into another dimension of space and time.

And for those parts that don't reach MACH 90 there is this mathematical formula "size of part/speed of part=pecentage of every finding the part".

I swear I heard that clip bounce off at least 3 different surfaces. I just hope it did not cause a rift in the space time continuum.

Does anyone carry a kit for all the small pins, clips, springs etc for AR's?

Not necessarily a LPK, but something like a gunsmith's screw set. Including pins, clips and springs?

Thanks, that is a good kit.

I just can't help but think you could buy the springs, cotter pins, and pins from some parts house for a few cents each. I guess after you invest time working out the specs and chasing the pieces the kit is pretty cheap.
