Training ammo: Wolf or CCI

Recommended Posts

Posted

I'm hunting for training ammo. I've found (thanks to the board)

Wolf: 1000 rounds for 209.00 at Centerfire Systems...looks like free shipping, but I didn't go through the sign up process.

I can get 1000 round of CCI with the ALUMINUM case for 215 shipped.

Now..I'm not real fond of either steel or aluminum as a case material, but I'm not reloading...and both classes I'm require factory loaded ammo.

Steel or aluminum?

The Blazer is going to be MUCH cleaner and a little easier on your gun than the steel case stuff. It is also ballistically similar to Federals premium stuff. BTW it is not free shipping. They add it after the fact and don't tell you what it cost.

Blazer, all day long.

Blazer is my Dept's training round...we shoot a ton of it with zero problems in our guns.

To give you an idea of how much we shoot...75-80 sworn Officers that qualify 6 times a year (more than any other Dept in the area that I'm aware of).

We've had more trouble with the Speer Lawman series than with Blazer.

When I buy training ammo, it's Blazer.

BTW, aluminum Blazer shoots more accurately for me than the Blazer Brass...no idea why.

nsnate02: oh I know...they love the word free...even when it ain't. I guess I should say "no additional charge for shipping"

Todd:

'nuff said....I used to shoot CCI before I went to 1911s... not even shore why I stopped...but I never heard anything bad about it.

Seeing as it's one of your classes I'm gearing up for...that works for me :-)

What caliber are those prices for? And where did you find the CCI Blazer? Im thinking about picking up a couple thousands rounds of 9mm and 45.

45 ACP.

I misspoke, the CCI price wasn't with shipping...that adds another 24.70 to the price, 239.70

http://www.wideners.com is where I found the ammo. I just saw on their website wher they only have 708 rounds left...bummer. Hopefully a resupply is on the way

of course...it might be fun to walk into academy and ask for 1000 rounds for the pistol on my hip :-) WHO'S GOT BAIL MONEY

Never fired any Wolf handgun ammo, but I use Wolf pretty much exclusively in my AR and AK and have never had a problem.

I was looking at wideners(their prices are awesome) but from where I am when you figure in gas or shipping + tn state sales tax i can do better shopping out of state which is a bummer because I would rather support the TN economy.

They dont say free shipping. It says on there somewhere when ordering they charge actual shipping after you buy. Here is there link to shipping charges: http://www.centerfiresystems.com/index.asp?PageAction=Custom&ID=12

Ohh,BTW they are out of 9mm,and .45acp(if not others, its been on sale)so you may be waiting a bit to get your order shipped. It shoud be in this week they said monday.

Either one will work fine. Wideners is local to me. You can expect re-supply whenever Hell freezes over or they get around to ordering more. I think the guy running it these days is an old canoe buddy. Gotta check that out some day....
