Reloader's Bench in Mt. Juliet has .223 (55gr fmj) for $169.99 per 500. You can also get a 50 rd pack for $17.99. This is Alabama Ammo stuff. It is factory reloads. I bought a case (500 rounds, in 10 packs of 50) but have yet to fire any yet. The stuff looks really good. All the brass is Lake City nato marked with 06 and 07 dates, no telling how many times it may have been reloaded but the brass looks better than a lot of some other stuff I have had before. No dings or dents and very clean looking. This price is a bit better than anything I have been able to find online (and no shipping charge) and short of Wolf or Monarch stuff some of the cheapest stuff I have been able to find in stores around Nashville.

I've never fired Alabama Arms stuff in my AR but have bought some of their other stuff in various handgun calibers at a few of the ranges around here. Seems like it's pretty decent stuff. Reloader's had some OK prices on some of the other stuff I was looking at, you'll still do a bit better at Wally World for the WWB but they have a pretty amazing selection of all sorts of stuff at The Bench. Tons of cleaning stuff, defensive ammo, and of course all sorts of reloading equipment....powder, brass, bullets, you name it.

Hey Darkstar, did you ever get to shoot any of this? I need to pick up some as well. Is it lacquer coated?

Yeah I fired 100 rounds this past Friday. Had no problems whatsover. Didn't seem any dirtier than any of the other stuff I've put through it (Fiocchi, Privi-Partisan). And no it is NOT lacquer coated. It's all really recent LC brass, and like I said though you never know how many times it's been fired there wasn't a lot of extractor marks on the stuff. I've had some stuff from Georgia Arms that was all scratched up so I'm using that as a comparisson....Seems like it's pretty decent stuff.

Excellent. Thanks for the reply. Always looking for good ammo.

Since its LC its probably 5.56. Hate for someone to run some of that down the pipe of a .223 chambered rifle if they didnt load to lower pressures. :-\

Pretty sure it's .223 Although all the brass is LC, this stuff is re-manufactured Alabama Ammo and on their label they state it as being .223

Unless they are really careless and lazy and stupid I can't imagine anyone selling stuff as .223 when it is really the higher pressure 5.56, but you never know. Every ammo I have bought has been clearly marked either .223 Rem or 5.56 mm.

Watch the Russians do it. :D

Yeah you never know right? Easy solution, get your rifle chambered for 5.56 then it doesn't matter...of course a lot of the sporting rifles are specifically chambered for .223....buyer beware I guess

Yeah .223 Wylde...I couldn't remember that. I knew there was a specific term for that. Surprised you knew that Rabbi....bein that it's not 9mm or a revolver round ;)

Actually my AR is chambered in .223Wylde ;)

You would be amazed at what I know. You would be equally amazed at what I don't know. On a good day I can tell a sxs vs an o/u shotgun....

Is that like being the most honest man in politics?;)

Hey whatever it takes! I'll stand out on Gallatin Pike with one of those signs you see people flipping around and all advertising your shop for a discount....

All kidding aside The Rabbi has some of the best prices in town. If you are in the Nashville area and looking for a purchase you really owe it to yourself to check him out.
