I don't drink whiskey often, but when I do.....Jack or George?

Jack Daniels has kind of a peppery after taste. George Dickel has more of a woody flavor.

I have to say that Jack Daniels is known throughout the world and is one of Americas largest exports, but I like George Dickel jest a little bit betta.

A few months ago went on the tour that both Jack and George offer. Jack has a better tour hands down. But learning the difference in the 2 George is smoother. Has something to do with cold filter and they only make (according to the tour guide) 80 Barrels a day. Definatly GEORGE.

There's a reason JD is the #1 best-selling brand in the world. It simply tastes better. Recently, I overheard someone ordering "Dickel and Drop" - George Dickel and SunDrop. YUCCCH!

When I drink whisky, single malt. Bourbon is my choice these days... Four Roses Single Barrel or Knob Creek Single Barrel Reserve.

If you are talking about Jack Black the reason it's the best seller is advertising and hype, there are plenty of better tasting whiskeys out there including the higher shelf versions of JD.

The Four Roses is a good bottle.

yep it is called advertising. Hmmm imgaine that, it works.

TN wiskeys are basically swill, LOL. The charcoal filtering is a gimmick that gives it a funny taste.

For brown liquor, bourbon is where it's at. And where it's at is Woodford Reserve.

Though I prefer the sweeter lighter taste of canadian whiskeys.

Yep, people only buy it because of advertising. (Sheesh). Your "better tasting whiskeys" are simply to your taste. To each his own.

In our cabinet at home presently...

  • Maker's 46
  • Four Roses Single Barrel, Small Batch
  • Jefferson's Reserve Very Old Small Batch
  • Glennfiddich 25-year Single Malt
  • Glenmorangie Rum Cask (not a huge fan of this, sadly)
  • Jack Daniel Single Barrel Select (my old favorite... slowly losing it's favor with me)

I am on the hunt for some Glennfiddich Snow Phoenix but have not been able to find any yet.

I subscribe to the popular view that Jack is too expensive to mix, and too poor to drink straight.

When I lived in England, if you ordered a whiskey n the local pub, you got scotch. The only choice was was brand. They liked our stuff, they just didnt consider it whiskey and didnt usually stock it duie to the high costs and even higher taxes.
