80% Lower Receivers

I'm looking into buying some 80% Lowers. Does anyone have a place they recommend to purchase them from? I have only found one place (Tactical Machining) and would like to compare prices. Thanks

Back when I was working Tool & Die, I helped a guy go down this road. Three words, "Ain't worth it" We finished them on a Fadal and it wasn't all that difficult, it was just more trouble than it was worth.

Maybe you can get better mileage, everyone's will vary. Good Luck.

I, OTOH, believe the polite and responsible forum member has the obligation at least to try to answer the OP's question before I tell him he's asking the wrong one.

Tactical machining is regarded as the best-made and most expensive. Since most are going this route out of cost-consciousness, the KT Ordnance probably is the best selling.

If you have the machinery and ability to complete an 80%, and your time isn't worth anything, or you just want to be able to say you did it, why not just machine it from one of these blanks or even a billet?

There are some good reasons to do an 80% build:

1. Enjoyment of doing something yourself. Sometimes the process of doing something is as much fun as having the finished product.

2. Gunsmithing in any form is a good skill to have.

3. You can give the man the proverbial finger by having a rifle that doesn't have a matching 4473 on file somewhere.

i have built a couple from 80 % finished but dont expect to save money

it is fun . you cant do it with a dremel you will need a mill and a lathe

I'm looking to make something that will be mine. I can get a spikes or another lower pretty cheap but it has their name on it. This was I can make a rifle for my kids, my wife, and myself and I can say that I crafted that....well 20% of it plus the custom engravings I will put on it. I'm not looking to save a whole bunch of money it's just something that I would like to do. Everyone needs a hobby and I pick guns.
