Wal mart ammo fee

You'd be surprised... even if you're buying the ammo for a rifle... many clerks will refuse to sell you 9mm or 45acp if you're under 21 in a WalMart.

Well federal law says you can't sell handgun ammo to anyone under 21. But of course it doesn't define "handgun ammo" and "rifle ammo". So I can sort of understand the corporate quandary to some extent.

Not as bad as Sportsman's Guide not shipping most knives to TN, though.

I bought a box of ammo at Wal mart yesterday (in Nashville) and noticed a $0.10 fee tacked onto the price. The clerk asked if it was for a handgun and I nodded yes (100 .45 ACP). Has anyone noticed this?

Bought 22 ammo last night at the Lenoir City Walmart. I was NOT charged the .10, this store charges you $1.00 per box. Another way Walmart collects those dollars they say they are trying to save us. Even asked the cashier manager and they confirmed that is the amount they ALWAYS charge.

The tax is $.10 per box of ammo. If they were indeed collecting $1 and it shows up clearly as $1 per box on your receipt, that is not a tax and something clearly is amiss. Perhaps they programed the wrong decimal point into their system when stocking the boxes.

Anyway you cut it, Nothing more than another grab for more $$$$s on top of the Sales Tax they already get. As for TWRA they also have taxes they get such as the Tax I pay to the TWRA for the Sticker on my boat. I only have had dealings with them on the Water & I'm less impressed with them than other Law Enforcement agencies. Not a hunter so maybe they are different on land.
