They didn't line up over my house as often as the Blue Angels did two years ago. I live directly in the path of the runway that they use for the show, and the Blue Angels would circle out around Percy Prist Lake and fly directly over my house so low that I could "count the rivets" as they passed. Still, I got several passes. I just wish that I had a camera and a photographer that could keep up with them. I hope to get more pictures this weekend.

We must have been neighbors a few years ago. It pains me to buy a ticket when I used to stand in the backyard. We backed up to airport property.

I'm not that close. I live in Lake Forrest. In my 50 years I've never gone to an air show, but I think I just may go for the experience of being up close.

Buy your tickets online and save some money. Price at the gate is at least $5 more per ticket. The online price will go up to gate price at 5:00pm today.

We stood out on top of the cooling tower at work today and watched the F-15's fly over. Our building overlooks the airport and you could damn near read the call signs on the pilots' helmets from where we were standing as they went over us. In fact, we were close enough to feel the heat off of the jet wash and smell the fuel. One of the few perks of working where I do right now. ;)

In 1949 or maybe '48 my dad took us to the Cleveland Air Races...it was pretty much a bust...everything was so far away all you could see was the smoke smudge where someone crashed. In 1980 the Sheridan Wyoming Airport had the CAF (Confererate Air Force) and a military group...I didn't go so I don't know who...Two days before the show a P40, P47. and a P51 practiced pretty much in my backyard...the 40 and the 51 broke away one heading North and one south...the Thunderbolt spent the next 20 minutes flying loops and upside down things in my yard...close enough that I could see the pilot's eyes when he went by...on my birthday!!! Happy Birthday to me!!

Now the P-51 is something I'd REALLY love to see up close and personal. I have always loved that plane. If I were to win the lottery probably the only extravagant thing I'd do is to buy/restore a P-51 and learn to fly it.
