It's easy to say we appreciate what they do, but to think I'm 29 and this LT lost his life to protect ours. Can't be thankful enough for all of those in uniform!!! Lord, Bless our Troops!

Thanks for posting, Crimson. Must reads are "Lone Survivor", the story of Lt. Murphy's last mission, and "Gates of Fire", mentioned in the Yahoo article. The Military Sealift Command also has named numerous ships after Medal of Honor winners (Ship Namesakes) from past wars. Especially be sure to read the citation for Army Master Sergeant Roy P. Benavidez from his service in Viet Nam. Incredible bravery. He was awarded the MOH by President Reagan and has since passed away.

I've read his story multiple times and it never ceases to amaze and inspire me.

Damn, what an awesome sailor. I can't even imagine the amount of guts it takes to walk out into enemy fire, having already been shot once, to make a phone call to save the lives of your team. A well deserved MOH recipient for sure. I'm sure it tears at Luttrell that he can't make it to the ceremony.

I have read his story many times, It's a small military when it comes down to it. I went through some courses with one of his ex Buds and was related to one of his team members who got killed that day. I had left Afghanistan the month before there attack.

I'm sure it does, but his wife went into labor last night, so he's got a good reason. ;)
