Not necessarily. A SEAL buddy of mine posted this recently on another message board. He is currently in Afghanistan.

I was basing my guess, and that's all it was, on the pictures of SEALs that I have seen. I have heard on other forums that they carry HK 416's and MP7's, but I haven't seen any proof of it. I have seen pics of SF and Rangers carrying the SCAR heavy though. One day I'm sure we will read about it in a book.

Yeah. The way my buddy talks, they have a pretty wide range of weapons. And it varies bigtime between units too.

Look I'll give credit where credit is Due. This isn't a Bush Victory or an Obama Victory. If the entire situation is true, it's a victory for America. Bush and the Administration (mainly the Military and Intelligence assets) have been working this issue for 10 years. For people to think that none of that work had bleed over into Obama's administration is smoking something. However, on the flip side of that Obama has continued along the same course with those assets (for the most part) but ultimately he made the decision with the Advisors in the room. I believe Bush would have done the same thing had he still been in this position. Also, I think that McCain would have as well as Hilary or anyone else you want to put in that position. Mainly because it was the correct decision to make with what was presented.

See, I disagree. I am not sure Bush or Hillary or McCain would have made the same decision. I'd bet at least two of them wouldn't. Actually, I'd bet only Obama would make the decision to go with a seal tram. The easy thing, the obvious course of action, is to blow that place up and count on OBL getting killed. Heck, the better action is to blow the place up and have a team on the ground to make sure everyone dies.

This decision seems like a no brainer because it worked. If 5 seals get killed and OBL gets away he is a superhero. It was a risky move on the part of the president. Wait, isn't that what happened when Clinton tried to kill him? Yes, yes it is.

It was a huge gamble, not one I think others would take. On the bright side it worked. On the downside Les Miles is running the country,

I have seen it personally and they carry these or at least MP7's and AR's. Pretty sure they were 416's but not absolutely positive. I am absolutely positive about the MP7's though.

What they wear depends on the mission as well. The photo above is in line with what I have seen. I have also seen them in other garb.

One thing I will say is in the photo above they seem a bit early in their deployment as most of the SEAL's I seen and dealt with had full beards. I'll assume they did it to help "blend".

Then why announce anything at all? If they currently hold him as you suggest, it would be in the best interest of the government to keep the news under wraps. Again, lying about this would be the most epic lie in world political history. And for what? So that Obama would get a bump in poll numbers over a year before an election?

Because him being dead is less of a threat to our soldier then if he was still alive. This whole thing is about how it will effect the troops on the ground and the Americans living their daily lives. If he is dead it is better to have questions the the harsh confirmation from a security perspective. I would be willing to bet that most AQ folks do not believe he is dead. If we brought out the Pictures then that would cause turmoil like we have never seen. 9/11 would be an blimp on the screen compared to what would happen.

fear has nothing to do with it.i just want them to get a case of their on thrown back at them. their a crazy bunch of people .some times you fight fire with fire. i do not think it needs to be shown here but does need to be shown to them.if they all droped dead everyone would be better off.

no I know who he is. and I know a lot of folks in the Pictures. I do training for them and some other folks in that community. and I have seen attempts on lives because of Pics on the Internet. So this is a pet peeve of mine. You won't stop all of it, but you can help one at a time. If you want to go ahead I mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. Just worried about our boys that's all.

First let me preface what I am about to say with I do believe OBL is dead. Whether last week or a few years ago I believe he is with his virgins.

Now lets talk about what the reasons or advantages would be if Al Qaeda is saying OBL is dead if he in fact isn't.

First, it removes the pressure off of OBL. After all if we think he is dead then why would we continue the hunt. Kind of like that relative that died, afterwards how many times did you try to call to talk to them.

Second, it would make OBL a martyr (as opposed to just a lucky guy) which could be the rally call for all of his supporters as well as garner support from those who were on the fence previously.

And finally, if they know he isn't dead yet made claim after claim he was it would make his "rising" even more dramatic. If Al Qaeda have been saying he wasn't dead then he came out in public it wouldn't be as monumental as OBL being dead then showing up in public.

There are going to be a lot of questions as well as those saying he is still alive for decades to come. In reading all the reasons why, I understand the burial at sea but I still stand by the notion that he was dead long before a week ago.
