Cookeville Gunshow

Perhaps I am not well versed in local tradition, but I went to the gunshow today in Cookeville. Sadly, it was one of the more disappointing events of my recent experiences. Now if I wanted bags, jewelry, flashlights, watches, knives and windows....yes windows, it might have been a worthwhile trip. The vendors ( all that I spoke to) were pleasant, cooperative and genuinely friendly. Oh there were firearms available but it seemed that guns were just a secondary item. IMHO, the venue itself really doesn't support a "trade show" but is more suitable for a horse show or sheep shearing demonstrations.

I may have figured out why the flashlights were so available, the lighting was sorta dim. Next time I will aim for Knoxville or , just wait and head up to Louisville in a few weeks

Not sure about the promoter, but was held at TTU's Hyder-Burks Ag pavilion, a place more commonly utilized for horse shows and sheep shearing demonstrations.;)

sheep shearing demonstrations.:D

Gotta love a good sheep shearing demonstration. They also held a midget wrestling event there recently from what I understand. What more can you ask?

Great american gun and knife show, go figure! Same guys that do Lebanon, the murfreesboro guard armory, and the bad sparta show (good one is put on by the city I believe?). I went to the first one they did in cookeville, and it was pretty much as described, I thought about going yesterday, but decided to just save the time and money, glad I did now.

There is a show scheduled for Aug 6-7 in Crossville at the fairgrounds. Perhaps it will be better than the Cookeville show. I saw an ad for it in the local paper with a local contact number for info. Maybe it's being locally promoted but I don't know for sure.

It's pretty telling when even the bad show in Sparta is better than the gun show in Cookeville. The bad one in Sparta is the 14-15th of this month.

The one in Crossville is little better than the one in Cookeville.

I was there yesterday, it was even worse than the last one. The only gun I was really interested in was way overpriced.

Actually, I think its the good one the 14th-15th isn't it?

I was wondering the same thing. I know the group that did Cookeville has also done Sparta (badly) but the next show isn't by them. The 14th & 15th is being done by Donnie Daniels (whoever he is) and is called the "Tennessee Classic Sportsman Show". I thought Bill Bohannon used to be the promoter.

The good shows have been the mid-March and mid-September shows that have been going on there for years. The others that have started recently cost more to get into and there's been less stuff to see.
