keep your mouth shut. If you are in a car being pulled over for a likely traffic violation there is no reason why you would enter into the equation. If the cop makes you get out of the car you have probably advanced far enough along to make him aware.

Unless your weapon is going to become visible I would say sit there and don't move. If a cop comes up to your side of the car, or asks for ID, I would calmly inform. If you are open carrying I would tell the driver to tell the cop his passenger has an HCP and is armed.

hard question in a place like michigan- where informing the officer if addressed is required.

here? simple! you arent required to say a think regardless of if you are driver or passanger, so its easiest just to keep your mouth shut as long as they cant see the gun.

i actually had this situation happen in michigan though. I was in the back seat with people that didnt know i carried (and i wanted to keep it taht way) and the police man actually asked for all of our drivers licenses. So instead of tossing mine up to the driver, I rolled down my window, handed him both and quietly said "im required to give this to you as well, and id rather discuss it in private if we must'.

He later had me get out of the car and we chit chatted about guns for 5 minutes or so. The cop didn't give the driver a ticket, and told me I did well.

The other people in the car sure were confused though! I just told them since I was a girl in the back seat with only guys in the car, late at night, middle of nowhere, etc, that he wanted to make sure everything was okay with me. They bought it.
