Ohhh, Okay. Because this account I am using doesn't say 2008 like yours, I'm not allowed to make any prideful comments about TGO. :D Kinda like white man claiming to be "real" americans because they been here longer than other people I think.

Don't get too upset...I don't think he meant anything by it.

It does seem that some put a bit too much emphasis on "when" someone joined here...I joined when I found the forum; if I had found it two or three or whatever years before I'd have joined it then!

Ashley I hated. Total jackwagon.

I agree.

I thought George was funny except for the way he treated Jamie.

All true. That whole final group was appaling in the way they treated Jamie and Jay.

The 37-year old Realtor

:D

He said because of an accident he was a stay at home dad, and that's why he needed the money.

George was an azzhat. He didn't give anything away; he choked.

He was too arrogant to give a win to someone else, but that arrogance allowed him to keep his mouth shut when others implied that is what he did.

Jamie was treated like crap and didn't deserve it. Jay kinda did with his bossy attitude.

Half of the people on there never should have been on the show. They sucked. How the heck can most of them be title winners of some kind, yet be awful, even with the type of gun they won something with.

The females were especially worthless. Was glad to see them gone quick.

George and Ashley made the AF look bad. They should have been reminded that the were representing their service branch since they both were still serving.

I think Jay brought everything on himself but it was kind of funny when he kept out shooting some of the other guys/gals.

I really think George was just trying to be comical with a lot of his comments....I found them funny.

I liked George. I think he was just playing around when he said a lot of the things he did. I think he heard what Chris wanted to do with the money and decided to throw the competition.

I didn't care for Jay. He ran his mouth when he should have been listening.

I was glad to see Chris win. He was my favorite from the start.

What I don't understand from this season or the first; Where are the REAL top shots the earth has to offer???

British Corporal Craig Harrison? Canadian Army Corporal Rob Furlong? American champion competition guys like Rob Leatham, Jerry Miculek [my favorite] or Doug Koneig?

No, for the record I could never shoot as good as some of the Top Shot competitors, but if they really want to convey the title of "TOP SHOT" Then by God get some REAL shooters in there!

I thought the hoopla over the .50 @ 1,000 yards was hyper inflated. YOU KNOW DANG WELL that rifle was zeroed in at a thousand yards for that target on that range. Well, that really removes a LOT of friggin variables don't it?

I saw a show on the History Channel where they had the Top Shooters from the Military, Police Departments, Etc. They weren't very impressive when handed a new weapon and a shooting scenario they hadn't practiced.

Jerry Miculek is an icon, but I bet if I handed him my 686 he wouldn't be nearly as impressive as he would be shooting his own 625.

George made the only really impressive shot of the show. I don't care who you are, but to pick up a cold rifle you have never practiced with and hit your target at 1000 yards with one shot is pretty damn impressive. I would bet money that if Craig Harrison or Rob Furlong had been there they couldn't have done that in one shot.

If these were Pros knocking down every target it wouldn't be as popular. History Channel has that kind of stuff on all the time.

It's popular because you are sitting on the couch telling your wife "I could have made that shot." And she belives you. ;)

+++1 Well said, and the truth.

Not taking anything away from him, but the air force sniper gave him the slot in the final showdown.

I think he felt selfish since he was just going to spend the money on guns and such since he was single and that Chris was going to spend it on his kids.

Still Chris smoked gunny in the end.

Um, I hate to remind everyone... but it's a reality tv show... For one, a lot of it is going to be scripted, two, they're not going to bring in high dollar, high class shooters that have already proven themselves 10 times over. They'd clean house, and it wouldn't make for good tv. Not to mention it would cost an arm and a leg. It's about conflict. Arguments. That's the core principle of any reality show. The show isn't about shooting guns. It's about getting a bunch of macho men and forcing them through the wringer and filming the results. Plain and simple. I wouldn't expect anything more and I'm surprised some of you do.

I think there is a good bit of truth in what you say but not completely.

Whether it's scripted or not or how much it might be scripted there is no way to know without actually having been a contestant on the show.

I also think that these people are not slouches when it comes to various shooting disciplines but being an IDPA hot-shot or a champion sporting clays shooter is far different than the sorts of events these shooters have to compete in on the show which is why the winner has tended to be someone who is the most well-rounded and not necessarily a champion in one particular shooting sport.

Bottom line for me is that I've found both seasons to be enjoyable with some incredible marksmanship displayed.

I'd take that bet for two dollars, raise you a dollar and a quarter and lose, but still be happy to watch him make you go "WOW" ;)

Yeah okay, you have a point there.

On-Demand has an hour long show after the finale about the season. They also show the shooters for next year.

im friends with a few guys from the show George, Ashley, Chris reed, and Ashley said 80 percent of what really happens inst seen and we only see what they want us too,... to make the show more interesting all in all most of them are good guys the producers just made the drama to make good guys and bad guys so it would make for better ratings....... Im glad chris won he needed the money more than anyone else and he was a great guy

I was also pulling for Chris from the first show. Nobody else has mentioned what did in Gunny in the finals, a 10/22.

I joined two months before I found the site and have been a member for 6 months on top of that. :D

George may not have shot THAT rifle, but he had surely shot the Barrett before.. Plus he was watching where everyone else was hitting (way left) and doped the scope to adjust as soon as he got up there. I'd bet Furlong would have made the shot easily.

I wouldn't have missed a shot the whole show. :poop:

I picked last years winner early in the season, and when I saw Gunny was in this year, I picked him before I ever saw the first show. The finale was quite interesting, and I thought I'd won my bet until Gunny had major difficulties with the 10/22 of all things. Glad Chris won, if my pick didn't. Seemed like a nice guy, good Southern boy, good shot, and he does live in Tennessee now. He got here as fast as he could!

I don't think a 1,000 yard shot is ever "easy" no matter how familiar a shooter is with a particular rifle. Plus I think they were dealing with a very significant cross-wind too. All but "Joe" made the shot eventually but you have to give some credit to George for getting in in one shot (even though he wasn't the fastest to hit the target). :P

There is a member on TGO that was on that show. I don't remember if it was the first season or this one. There is a thread around here somewheres with him talking about it.
