Hey Bronk, did you check out the Condor II when you were there? That's what I use when hiking. Nice bag but somewhat small.

bronker i carrry a falcon ii everyday and love it. There is a store local here that carries maxp stuff and you can order it online.

GT Distributors - America's Law Enforcement supply specialist

Do you mean the Rossville location or is there one in Soddy? My parents live in Soddy so that would be quite convenient if it's nearby. If it is Rossville, is it still there? I heard the recent storms pretty much wiped Rossville off the map.

They didn't have one. I compared them online and what I didn't like about the Condor was it's a top-loader as opposed to the Falcon being a clamshell. Plus I have that LAPG bag I bought from you to use as a top-loader.

I ordered from OpticsPlanet last night and it's already on its way. Range report forthcoming.

bronk, the only issue with the falcon ii is lack of organization on the inside. I have a maxp organizer, a tactical tailor mil spec monkey admin pouch, and a 3 pack of zipper pouches i picked up at home depot. Just a heads up

Great advice. I've actually been buying some of the midsized Pelican cases and load them with my FAK and basic survival stuff. That way I can move them back and forth. They are heavy, but waterproof and indestructible. I too have the Max EDC organizer, M1, Max FR-1, and was looking at the Monkey Admin pouch. Can you post a pic of your setup?

Sincerely, thanks for going through that trouble to post those pics and the details of your setup. That helps tremendously!

Your thoughts and tendencies are very, very parallel with what I have in mind. This will be my GHB / vehicle bag and my overnight camping bag.

Again, thanks! :(

np. As an edc i cannot say enough about the pack. one mod you can do ie i had my gf do was go to a hobby store and get some one inch wide elastic strap and clean up the extra straps near the buckles like this.

I received the Falcon II today. (Optics Planet, if they have it in stock, ain't NO joke! I ordered it 5/10, it shipped 5/10, and was on my doorstep at 0900 this morning).

Well...for once in my EDC / GHB / BOB / Car Bag quest...I've found the right one. Details to follow. Already considering ordering the EMS Red version to make up my Traveling 'Minute-Clinic' to keep in my company car and to take on medical mission trips, etc. Headed to Honduras in July with some surgeons, dentists and opthamologists.

That's exactly what I had in mind. And good to know the UTG bag has the big velcro pad on the inside too. I think we may have a winner. Best part is the UTG bag is below my discretionary spending limit... so I don't have to get the boss's permission first.
No. :-\ Today is day 6 of their 7-10 days before it ships. I'm trying to be patient. I'm compiling a list of stuff that will live in it because I'm nerdy like that. That sounds like a good thread extension...

Here's my list (a work in progress):

Small flashlight (single AAA or keychain type LED light. maybe a 3 AAA light)

bug spray

sunscreen

small first aid kit (bandaids and such for minor booboos, tylenol, benadryl, cortizone, etc. )

keychain thermometer/compass thingy

pen and note pad

A couple diapers

small container of wipes

disposable changing pads

hand sanitizer

$20

... obviously the gun, camera, phone, keys, and those sorts of things will be in there too, but they'll come and go as needed.

What's in your bag?

I have one from UAG. IIRC, the same designer from UTG designed the UAG.

Anyhoo... It's held up very well for the two years that I've had it. It gets used and abused regularly as a discreet camera bag.

I've got a review of sorts of it around here somewheres with pics and a couple of other's opinions on the bag. IIRC, all opinions were of good quality except for one who complained of the bag ripping.

I figured I’d resurrect this thread and share a review of what I got….

First of all, as I stated above, the UTG bag was on back order. The initial 7-10 days turned into 4 weeks. :( I didn’t want to wait that long so I surfed around and found the 5.11 PUSH bag was quite similar, though it was more than I wanted to spend. Somewhere online (I don’t remember where) had a good sale price on it and Optics Planet has a price match guarantee, so I put that to the test. I submitted the competitor’s price on the 5.11 bag to Optics Planet and the next day they sent me a coupon code to match it (~$10 savings). Still a bit more than I wanted to spend, but better than waiting a month. So I changed my order and had the 5.11 bag, holster, and double mag pouch a few days later. While the back order itself was a bummer, I give Optics Planet kudos for customer service.

On to the bag… I’ve used it a few times and it’s nice, I’m happy with it. Generally good quality throughout, sturdy fabric, good seams, nice stitching, plenty of pockets, etc. My only nit-pick is the small pocket on the top that’s intended for a phone, camera, or sunglasses needs a soft liner (fleece?) to prevent scratching delicate stuff.

The side pockets for water bottles are nice and seem to provide pretty good insulation. I put a frozen 20oz bottle of water in on side and after about 5 hours in 90 deg temps (walking around Dollywood), it was still about half frozen.

As you will see in the pics, it holds plenty of stuff and works quite well as Dad’s diaper bag. Loaded up with everything you see plus 2 water bottles it weighs about 7 lbs. It was comfortable to carry all day even with the added weight of my 3 yr old on my shoulders for a while.

Overview:

IMG6063-M.jpg

Packed with all the goodies Dad needs...

IMG6066-M.jpg

Obligatory weapon shot. My pistol fits pretty well in there. I like the holster... thanks to BigK for the suggestion!

The double mag pouch barely squeezes in there with the gun, but I've only got 1 spare mag for this one  I practiced drawing a bit and while certainly not super-speedy, it works well enough.

The set-up is rock solid. It doesn't move around in there at all.

IMG6067-M.jpg

Here's all the goodies spread out so show what's really in there. Even with all this stuff, it isn't jammed full. I tried it with additional accessories (not shown) for the 6 month old (a couple diapers, bib, burp cloth, and a spare onesie), and that pretty much filled it up.

The little red woodpecker toy is a nice touch. Screams 'covert'!

(...says the 39 year-old man who just stood in his living room with an electric microphone and lip-synced the dance version of 'I'm a Barbie Girl in a Barbie World' to the delight of his 4-year-old daughter).

Nice setup!:koolaid:

Gotta use those carabiners for something. When both boys are with me, they'll likely be a paci hanging on it too. :taunt:

It takes a real man to do Barbie karaoke. I salute you! :koolaid:

(and I'm glad I have boys  )

Just purchased a fatboy versipack and ccw holster for it. I was super stoked until I read this forum about Optics Planet...now you guys have me worried. Hopefully it isn't out of stock and can be shipped relatively soon. Thanks for all the info on here though!

My back order was a color problem. They had all the colors in stock except the one I wanted. I did some shopping around and no one had that color in stock at the time. That's typical for me... I always find the slowest check-out line in the grocery store, every traffic light turns red just before I get to it...

Post up some pics and a review when you get it.

Well they sent me an email saying it shipped today so I guess I'm in the clear because I chose a well stocked color. I'm kind of in the same boat with the check-out lines and red lights though lol But ok, I have been on here for a while but have never done a review or posted pics before. I'll try to get some on here whenever my versipack is delivered.
