Ammo prices coming down?

Recommended Posts

Posted

Bought a 550 round box of Federal .22 last week at Wally World, and I'm pretty sure I paid $18+ for it.

Standing in front of the ammo case right now, and it's $15.47 today. Same price for the Remington 550-round box. The Winchester 555 is $0.50 cents more.

It also seems that the Winchester white box ammo in 9mm ($19.97/100) 38 Special +P JHP ( $18.97/50) and .45 ACP JHP (50/$19.97) have come down in price, too, but I'm not sure exactly how much.

Surprised by this trend, but I hope it continues.

nope. Ammo prices are actually going up on May 1

thats what I heard, but what Sheep saw is what i saw as well? I wonder if they lowered it trying to get a surge of buyers before the buying slows down? Who knows? All I know is I need more 9mm ammo.....oh, and I can use some .40 after doing inventory.

My theory is the ammo you are buying today was made with last years components when copper and lead raw materials were cheaper. Raw materials have increased right along with oil. Wait till six months to a year from now and see what ammo cost being made with todays raw materials cost.

Erik is probably right, at least in the near future. With fuel prices rising like a Saturn

rocket, ammo & reloading prices will follow suit soon.

I did notice, on the other hand, while browsing the 'net', that "some" ammo prices have

gone down somewhat. Midway had some UMC on sale. How long will it last? Who knows.

My ammo stock is in pretty good shape, as are reloading supplies. If a bargain comes

along I can't refuse, then I'll buy some, other wise , not.

Besides, Obama will have gas prices down to $2 gal. soon, right? :usa:

Wow, thanks for the head's up. I think I'm good for now, though - literally just ordered more .223 at a great price.

Figures that the devaluation of the dollar would start hitting us shooters soon...

I may get another 1k from your favorite place. I have a little over 1500 rounds of 223 now

Hehehe, I'm not even gonna mention how much this brings me to. Buy it cheap, stock it deep...

I would love to stock up for a rainy day.

It ought to be all of them. Their prices are usually the same everywhere. If not, then I was at the Walmart on Gunbarrel Road in Chattanooga.

Buy it cheap, stock it deep...

Amen, brother!

You obviously didn't get the ammo flyer from Cabelas. $38.99 for a box of 243 ammo? Really??!!??:woohoo:

I get the memos, but I ignore them. Don't think I've ever seen a good ammo deal there

Back in the fall they had S&B 9mm for 8.99 a box and I think they were running $5 flat rate shipping. I ordered almost 1000 rounds. That is the only good deal I've seen there.
