Who here crimps their .223 for a AR15.I just got one and was wondering is it better to or not.I load for my Savage model 10 Precision Carbine .223 ,and I seem to get better accuracy not crimping bullets.

Since I resize decap and trim prior to reloading I just leave out the decapping rod on my resizing die the second time through, which tightens the necks

I don't crimp any rifle ammo except the M-1 (more preventative than need and the 147s have a groove ) but the necks are tighter due to the expanding ball not being there,...

I couldn't tell you what the neck tension is at that point but my loads are all built using the same die setup / procedures so as long as I don't buy a different die set.....

I do crimp with a Lee Factory Crimp die. Like has already been said though, Your Mileage May Vary.

I have some factory crimp dies too,223,30-06,243,308

I just can't bring myself to not crimp any ammo for an autoloader. It's just not worth it to have one "loose" neck.

^This. It only takes one to make matters at hand go from bad to worse.

I crimp with the factory crimp die. I found that without the crimp the bullet is prone to setback. The round hits the feed ramp pretty hard in an AR.
