I read the books, and had my buddy record the first episode on a free HBO weekend last week, haven't watched it yet. Alas, I don't have HBO, and don't know anyone who does, so I won't be seeing anything past the first episode as HBO doesn't post their shows online anywhere that I've ever found.

The books kind of went toward more drama and less action with most of the characters, Jon Snow, and Arya excluded. But it always kept seeming like it was building up to something major! Like I said, haven't seen the show so I don't know how closely it will follow the books.

The writer is terrible about killing off main characters, by the 4th book he had to start introducing an all new cast, he was running dangerously low on people to write about. I wonder if book 5 ever came out...
