45acp another primer question

I am curious what primer to use to reload Blazer, and some of the new federal cases for 45acp? The primer pocket is smaller than normal. I'm usually load regular large pistol primers in my once fired brass. Also, what adjustment do I need to make to the charge? I would appreciate any feedback from those who have done this. Thanks

Some brass uses small primers. To swap, you just change the primer insert from the large to the small one -- on my press, that means remove the shell holder, pull out the metal primer thingy, pop in the other one, put the holder back, then use a the other size of primers and mass primer dispenser. I have 2 of each, as large rifle and large pistol are same diameter, and small pistol is same as small rifle, so 2 of them cover all 4 basic types (not sure about berdan style -- thats a whole different story).

Thanks jonnin. I have the small primer feeder and tools for my press. Do I need magnum smalls or regular smalls? It will make a pressure difference. How do I compensate the charge for that?

I actually like, and have paid for, small primer 45 ACP brass. It makes keeping useable primers on hand easier. As far as what to use to load them any small pistol primer will work.

I have about 500 pieces of small primer 45 ACP brass as well as the same amount of larger primer brass. Both work equally well.

No idea. Use regular small but I do not know the difference in pressure vs a large regular. I would think the difference is not so great that your regular loads need to change unless you are really picky. If you are picky, throw away the small primer brass and stick to one set of components.
