They had them in Dallas. I was down there for business a few weeks ago, they had them there.

Really? I have had more than one guy behind the counter tell me the same thing. Maybe they're wising up.

Bass pro doesn't carry them anywhere. The owner doesn't like them.

Pearl, MS Bass Pro has them.

Check this out from the Cabela's ad.

I wonder if Bass Pro would do a price match. ;)

I think in order to price match the store has to be with a certain distance. I don't know where the nearest cabela's is to murfboro but i'd say they would claim it (not compition)

on 2nd look...it appears that the going online rate is $570ish so no crazy steal there...but good for a box store. 1in8 twist 5R rifling with melonite instead of chrome, no forward assist, no dust cover...if the dust cover could be added back it would be great for a lightweight build (which is what im doing with my spikes setup).....might still be a buy.

They are 556 as well . We got some of them on order @ Classic Arms and have had one show up already (I am working there part time now, not trying to advertise, just giving some specs on the rifle). They were a special show order if I remember correctly. The items about this rifle that might be of interest. They have a lightweight profile BBL (:(), no dust cover or forward assist.

If I remember correctly from the one I handled, it has none of the needed bits on the side of the upper to install a dustcover.

I have recently become a big fan of the lightweight barrel. Just put one on my main AR. Will probably pop for another one for my other carbine when budget permits, or more likely, when I have another surge of AR disease.

bummer....i guess its not a complete necessity....just carry a roll of electrical tape for when your not gonna shoot it :P

How did the rest of the rifle look and handle?

Very nice. It is a solid rifle for a really good price. If I wasn't set on doing an ultra light build, I would pick one of these up myself. It has a really good balance and feel with the lightweight barrel. Handling that rifle confirmed for me that the growing resurgence in popularity of the lightweight barrel is with good reason. The bolt had good staking as well (something I always check thanks to my reading at M4C). Next one we get in I will check on the buffer as to whether it is mispec or commercial diameter.
