Need Another AR

Unfortunately I am in need of another AR and can't figure which caliber it is going to be. I have a Bushmaster .223 & a freshly built Remington 6.8 SPC II. Thinking of either a .50 Beuwolf or another 223. I don't reload, but trying to find something else. Anyone ever shot the Beuwolf?

I would be interested in getting into a .50 Beowulf or .458 SOCOM AR. The only drawback for me on either is ammo price and availability since I'm not set up to reload.

I have been reading about the 300 AAC BLACKOUT (300BLK) . I uses standard AR mags and bolts. Just a new barrel. Same 5.56 casing with a 7.62 bullet. Wilson Combat is coming out with a 7.62 as well, but AAC has beat them to market and has a good bit of market share.

If you dont like that, it depends on use. If you are shooting under 400 yards, 6.8spc, a lot of shooting over 500 6.5 grendal. The 6.8spc seems to has the best market now. But the 6.8 & 6.5 are both a lot more expensive than the 5.56 and the 300blackout may require reloading. I would not use any for a high round count, maybe for hunting, low round count stuff.

I have known a few guys with the large caliber ARs, 500/458. They had very hard times with ammo and had a hard time selling them.

I will stick with 5.56 until this wave of new calibers shakes out and one wins the market battle. So far i like the 300 blackout.

The .300 Blackout seems to be almost exactly like 7.62x39. But I've been wanting a 6.5 Grendel upper for a long time but I just don't have the space to shoot it really. The reason I was looking into a large bore caliber was for brush hunting purposes. Hogs, yotes, and the like.

We've (D&T Arms) sold a bunch of .458 SOCOM's and keep ammo for it in stock. If you are going the big bore route the 458 is the ticket. Rock River makes a production upper and stock parts, which is a big plus since the other options , ex. 50 Beowulf, are very hard to find.

Personally I'm with Magic and the idea of a 6.5 really intrigues me. It does everything the .223 does except it does it a whole lot better and I like that Wolf makes ammo for it (cheaper target stuff).

I had a 6.5 Grendel, but got too frustrated with ammo availability and price. I recently sold it and thinking about a .308 platform for cheaper and more available ammo.

To call 308 cheap 6.5 must be outrageous!!

Wolf does make brass cased ammo for the 6.5. Last time I checked it was around 15 for a box of 20 which isn't so bad IMO.
