Obama New Low Rating - But GOP Loses

Recommended Posts

Whether it be people paying little or no taxes or sucking the teat, there is so much fraud and abuse in every branch of government it's disheartening.

What can be done is the real issue and the only way that I see is to vote people in that's willing to do what it takes. Doing this will take a long time and many more people must be involved with what gov. is doing and have a common belief.

We should also put in term limits, cut their pay in half, cut all their benefits and start reducing the size of government and their programs.

They should be serving the country.

 Yea I know, I'm dreaming.

Maybe it's going to take a massive disaster so we can start over. :P

That 47% number should be considered as those 47% of people who effectively pay no taxes. Whether

or not that number is valid I don't know, either. The number of Americans receiving some kind of benefit

derived from government sources is probably about the same, or more.

Cut 'em off of the teat and let them find a job. There are jobs around, just might not be their dream job.

The majority of those folks who pay no federal income tax have jobs. Just not high paying ones. If you make fifteen bucks an hour you end paying zero in fed income tax. Sure they take it out and all but you get it back at the end of the year or whatever. Crap man, I know plenty of people who make fifteen bucks and hour, don't get food stamps or welfare so I don't really think of them as leeches.

On the other hand, could they be kicking five hundy up to the fed instead of getting an extra five hundy (or whatever) back? Probably. I know people who make it on ten bucks an hour, some even on less. One of the places, I think it was cnn but I've been reading a lot of stuff about this, said 1/5th of people making 50,000 to 75,000 a year end up with no federal tax burden. I guess after EITC and other stuff they end up getting a little more out than they pay in.

Found the original document:

Who pays taxes?

In a different format

Wherein you can see where the 49% pay no taxes somehow equals 71 million people. Which is weird. But there is funny stuff going on here, they keep talking about tax units instead of individuals. I'm still not sure what a tax unit is but, by God, 47% of them pay no federal income tax. Even some "tax units" making more than a hundred grand.

The best analysis I've seen is here

The conclusion is that if you take social security taxes, medicare taxes and various other fed taxes into account the percent of people* that pay no net fed tax (not no net tax) is closer to 10%.

*I have no idea if this is tax units or actual people or what. As soon as you figure out what a tax unit is, OhShoot, get back to me cause I can't figure it out. I am relying on your sluething skillz here.

Though I've got to say I am finding harder and harder to think of these people as leeches. A warrant officer in the army (w-1) pays no federal income tax because, if the are W1 they make less than 30 grand per year. How is being in the army being a leech on our society? I think E1-E7 will also pay no taxes. It is hard for me to see a bunch of military folks as being on "the teat." I guess they technically are, but I'm kinda glad we have folks willing to do that.

I am positive the stats are accurate but, man, the tax unit, 71 million people thing are confusing. This is so obfuscated that I can't tell what is really going on. Generally I would expect the talking heads to just shout numbers without understanding what they really mean. I mean that is their job and all. I would also, generally, expect to find some very boring but highly explanatory article by the media. All I can find is a bunch of people who were too lazy to do their jobs and mainly parrot what teh study says without explaining what it means.

Well, that's too much of that. I've got to go drink some "beer units." I think I might head out to the Coal Creek "range unit" this week and shoot some "individual" rounds. I anticipate that 71 of the 350 bullets I fire will hit the 9 ring. That should give me 50% bulls eyes.

The real problem is that there are people out there paying no taxes at all. Some of them are

receiving benefits due to the "Great Society" programs and other income redistribution schemes

that are finally being acknowledged by the liberals. Well, hell, they are bragging about them. The

only useful thing that redistribution does it take otherwise potentiallt productive individuals out of

the workforce and become slaves to the whim of the government and it's programs of the moment.

Why I am paying for some damned fool on foodstamps that buys broasted chicken and bottled water

with my tax dollars burns me up. Why some other damned fool sits around his place of abode and

smokes a few joints or does meth while the baby is screaming in the other room, burns me up. Why

my tax dollars go to funding Planned Parenthood burns me up.

Why I pay in to the Treasury when Charles Rangel and Tim Geittner(sp?) cheat the hell out of theirs,

burns me up. Want me to go on?

Now as far as military personnel paying taxes, I'm not sure they should be paying at all, at least while in a

war zone. The situation I saw around Fort Campbell, with the lower enlisted getting food stamps angered

me a lot. It was either those soldiers shouldn't be in the military, or, I suspect, their pay really sucks. That's

no way to treat someone protecting your freedom.

There is no language in the Constitution providing for Medicare, SSI, welfare programs so plentiful

and TARP like programs. The language that is in the Constitution actually limits the number of things

government can do.

I haven't taken any government handouts and if I die earlier because of it, so be it. You can call me cruel,

cold and callous all you want, but those programs are what makes people less than what they could be and

eventually automatons. All the numbers do is make it more depressing.

If you ask someone who pays no federal income tax, the response you will get is Yes i pay all my federal income tax. They don't realize they are not paying and most are getting a big refund, if the have children, by getting EITC, and ACTC. Both refundable credits. The year TN was debating a state income tax, I asked those making less than $30,000 if they were in favor of this tax and would they pay it. I don't remember anyone saying they were in favor and all said they wouldn't pay it. I beleive the magic number for not paying this tax was income less then $30,000.00.

The point I am trying to make is those not paying income tax have no idea they are not paying it. They believe that only the rich are not paying. Listen to what Obama says. He may be down in the polls now, but this is the same strategy the Dems. have used since Truman and most of the time it worked.

All the time it's worked. No qualifier needed. that's how they got their power, from FDR on. Lied out their asses

and they proved there are a lot of naive people voting.

All this "Nobama has low approval, but still beats the GOP (...or others....)" is all propaganda ginned up by the Demorats and their buddies in the media to plant the lie that Nobama cant be beat. When the Repubs finally get around to picking a "real candidate" who can clearly and articulately contrast themselves against this bunch of trash the real campaign will be on. If the republicans dont meet this chump head on and do the right thing (...and there is some possiblilty that they wont...), i predict they will be extinct by the next election cycle, and the Libertarians will take their place as a "conservative" party.

Nobama can be beat. His policies are exactly like Jimmy Carter's were. If he goes up against a "real candidate"; he will loose in a landslide. Dont believe this bunk about him being unbeatable. There are several republicans who can beat Nobama in a walk; most of them are sitting state governors.

That's the problem with propaganda, Leroy. A lot of people bask in it, thinking anything

written is true. Just about everything coming out of the media is propaganda. Obama is

very probably toast, even with a billion dollar "pay your mortgage for you" campaign, which

is essentially what he will use SEIU types to promise their marks when taking them and the

dead ones to the poll.

Even Krauthammer is wrong on occasion, well more than a little, and I like him. Most of the stuff

even from "reputable pollsters" becomes fodder in less than 24 hours.

The Carter Whitehouse was overwhelm with joy when Reagan won the GOP nomination. That election came down to anyone but Carter. Will history repeat itself?

Anyone but Obama?

I think it will if the Republicans contrast their candidate with Nobama. Nobama aint likeable; Carter was. His (...Nobama's and Carter's...) policies are destructive, and lots of people (...both Dems and everybody else...) are waking up to that.

More than that; Nobama will never be able to keep his cool in debates. His character and demeanor is such that he cant take opposing criticism without showing his temper; just like a petulent child (...which is exactly what i think he really is...). Take the time to watch his replies to genuinely honest questions that challenge his judgement or philosophy. He fuzzes up pretty quickly.

I predict that Nobama and his socialist operatives will have a miserable campaign this time around if the opposing part(ies) do the right thing.

Here's hopin!

That's a big IF. Voting usually comes down to avoiding the worst. The Republicans are capable of putting up the worst as a canditate. Things aren't exactly running smooth in that party right now. If they put up the wrong candidate, the majority may stick with the devil they know, especially if there's a strong independent running. It's a crap shoot at this point.
