I have sworn by Summit Racing for years. They have helped me build more than a few cars.

Jegs is also another good one.

As far as brick and mortar shops out there, I have no clue.

I have also found a few good things on eBay.

What are you building?

Having my midlife crisis I guess. I have a '96 VW Jetta in excellent condition that I would like to make some subtle changes to to get a few more horses out of it for no other reason than to make it more fun to drive. Don't want to spend a fortune on it, however.

For VW, I'd say Google is your best bet. While they certainly have lots of stuff, I don't think Jegs or Summit will have much for a Jetta.

Water cooled Volkswagens will have lots of parts out there, but I am not even sure where to begin. There is a tuner here in Knoxville that is doing very well for himself. Matt Ford automotive, but that might be a little bit of a drive.

I got into imports a while ago and have been working on Toyotas, Celicas specifically. If you find a decent water cooled VW forum they will be able to point you toward brand specific vendors. It is difficult for folks in the US to find dedicated parts suppliers for imports, that is unless you drive a Honda.

But who wants to drive a Honda?

When you are searching for a VW site, don't make the mistake of going to an air cooled site, there is a huge divide between the air cooled guys and the water cooled guys. I don't quite get it, but it is almost as severe and violent as the import/domestic guys. I run pretty much anything and everything, currently owning old American Iron as well as my rice burners. I have never owned a water cooled VW, but I have owned more than my fair share of air cooled.

I have a buddy that runs an R32 and he frequents VWVortex.com. Other than that, I couldn't tell you a think about them, but it might be a decent place to start.
