I need a reloader in the K'ville area to load me some .38 cartridges with rice for these pests. I am covered up with them and the old paddleball racquet isn't getting the job done. PM me and we can discuss details.

How many GRAINS of rice do you think would do the job.... ?

I load crushed walnut shell over 2 grains of Bullseye, CCI 500 primers in .38 Special cases. I use light cardboard wads over the powder and 'shot'. This is just what I use, not a recommendation for anyone else.

I thought you were using grits. Not enough thump?

Seeing this thread made me go and make some for myself just for fun. I tried a variety of powder loads and a few different projectiles. I loaded them in some .38 s to shoot out of my revolver. These things are really fun to shoot. Thanks for the idea.

I was laughing when I saw this thread considering I was having a very similar conversation just this morning with a couple of guys in Clarksville. We were shooting a local match out at Rattlesnake Ridge and Gary and Kim were telling me about running around shooting carpenter bees with their 22 rifles. Hearing them tell their stories had me LMAO.

This thread cracks me up. What would the nieghbors think if I sat out on the back deck one evening shooting at bees...with a big ass gun?

I need to go load up some insect rounds. :D

Spreading insanity, one mind at a time.

What will the Yankees think of us?

Next year - anvil shooting!!

No dies needed. Just a pin punch to pop out the primer and one of those cheap lee hand primers and you are all set. Don't really need to size it just to use in your 38 revolver.

+1 on the gasket punch. That is what I used too.

Mine were a little louder than just a primer pop. 5 gr of unique and a pretty good pack of walnut shell and it broke the skin on a sheet of drywall 8ft away. Fun as can be. Shooting june bugs.

4gr of unique, just got done loading some 45 acp swc I was using 5gr for that.

Or rather than use a gasket punch just place the gasket material over the charged case them press down on the gasket material and the case mouth will cut it to size. Or you could use a deprimed case to do several then push them out through the flash/primer hole.

When I was doing mine I would prime the case, add a few grains of powder, cut the gasket material using the case mouth, seat it against the powder, charge with walnut media, again with the gasket material and done.

With all this talk of bee loads you guys have infected me again. I haven;t made them for a few years but now I am going to have to. Except this time I am going to be using 9mm. Won't hold as much media but should work fine.
