Just thought I would post a couple of pics from my range outing with my old-style Hi-Point 995 carbine in the camo stock.

Set up two 8" Birchwood Casey Dirty Bird targets, one at 30 yards, one at 50 yards. For reference, the red bullseyes are 1.5" in diameter. First target, 30 yards, open sights, 20 rounds of WWB 115 grain FMJ, using a shooting bag:

Second target, 50 yards, open sights, 20 rounds of WWB 115 grain FMJ, off of a bag:

It was too bright out to use the laser, but the ghost ring sight on this gun is really easy to use. I did have two FTFs, one in each of my two magazines, both the 4th round in each mag, nosed up and jammed. Going to clean the mags and lube them, see if that fixes them. Great little carbine, though, especially for the money. I would like to get one of the new .45 ACP models. Anyone have any experience with them?

Good shooting. I really like mine, too. I keep going back and forth on whether to keep the old style stock or get one of the new style stocks. For me, the biggest draw of the new style stocks are the spare mag holders Hi-Point has developed for them.

Feed lips probably need to be squeezed closer together.

Get an ATI RX4 style stock. I loved it on mine when I had it.

I have an old style, and my dad has a new style, there's more to them than just the stocks. The whole bolt in them is different, and they have quite a bit less recoil (the stock has a recoil absorbing deal in the butt). Not that 9mm has that much recoil to begin with, but my hipoint carbines have always seemed to drag the last bit of recoil out of that little round.

I am really surprised at how much more powerful the 9mm is coming out of that rifle barrel as opposed to a pistol. I mean, I know it should pick up more speed, and without a chrony, I don't know just how much more, but they really zing out of the carbine. The divots created in our berm are much larger and deeper than from our 9mm pistols. I would not feel undergunned at all using it for HD.

I am quite pleased with the 995. The only thing is that since I bought it used, it didn't come with a scope rail, but I doubt I would scope it anyway. Plus, Hi-Point would probably send me one for free if I called them.

no point in scoping one of them things they are minute of paper plate rifles.

Lots of fun to shoot. Only downside is the ten round mags.

Theres already a 15 round mag available for the older carbines, I have one. However, there is not one for the new ones, and the old style will not work, the one I have was my dads, I got it when he realized it wouldn't work in his.
